Question from Rafav16 (17:56, 16 May 2026)

edit

Hello, good afternoon, Wikipedia team. I am writing to you because I am an aviation enthusiast here in the USA, and I always keep a close watch on any route changes, frequency increases, new route launches, and everything related to them. I live in the state of Utah, and consequently, I pay close attention to any changes that may take place at Salt Lake City Airport. To get into the specifics: while the edits I make may not always come from sources containing exhaustive details or specific websites, the information is verifiable—either through Delta or via the Cirium database. I often try to find at least one website to verify my edits; however, there are two individuals (Venflyer98 and Danners430) who take it upon themselves to delete every edit made by anyone else—whether verifiable or not. Instead of contributing constructively or engaging in a dialogue—perhaps with a novice editor—to discuss whether the information is verifiable, they simply remove your edit without any discussion whatsoever. They act as if they are the only editors permitted to make changes. I have had several disputes with them, during which I have challenged their tendency to subtract from—rather than add to—an article; yet, nothing ever changes with them. I have pointed out to them that if they were truly good editors, instead of deleting others' contributions, they could verify the information themselves—or try to locate the most authoritative website to support it—and then keep the edit intact (thereby claiming the "trophy" for themselves). Instead, however, they prefer to simply delete the content—even if the edit is factually correct—seemingly just to deny anyone else the satisfaction of contributing anything other than exactly what *they* personally choose to verify or approve. For instance, there have been several issues regarding the SLC-OGG flight. While this route was indeed initially launched as seasonal, as of October 25th of last year, it was converted to year-round service. On e --Rafav16 (talk) 17:56, 16 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Rafav16, this seems like a content dispute. Try to resolve the issue with @VenFlyer98 and @Danners430. JayCubby 18:34, 16 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Well, that is precisely why I am contacting you: because my edits have not been addressed or discussed in a proper manner; instead, they are simply deleted by the two individuals I mentioned earlier. Consequently, the problem lies with them. As I’ve told you, I am a beginner—albeit an enthusiastic one—but my editing style is not being respected, nor is any constructive, verifiable dialogue being initiated regarding the changes I make. That is why I have resorted to this method—because those two individuals are indeed the source of the problem. As you rightly pointed out, they do not *own* Wikipedia; anyone is free to edit. If you dislike someone's edit, the proper procedure is to first discuss it with them and verify the reliability of their information—*then* you may delete or modify it—rather than simply deleting it outright without explanation. I have, in fact, taken the initiative to speak with them directly and ask, "Why are you deleting my edits instead of helping me?" Yet, all they do is undermine my efforts, and that is simply not right. Rafav16 (talk) 18:50, 16 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for ping, handling on appropriate Talk Pages. (VenFlyer98 (talk) 22:17, 16 May 2026 (UTC))Reply

hello i have been trying to edit a living composer’s page to be accurate and up to date but keep running up against problems. what citations are okay to use and which are not? i thought as long as a citation is published somewhere reliable that would be fine but it seems like that isn’t enough? can you clarify maybe with examples what are considered good citations? thank you --Quotenote (talk) 22:28, 4 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
