Introduction to contentious topics

edit

You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia's norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

Additionally, you must be logged in, have 500 edits, and have an account age of 30 days, and you are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on any page within this topic.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

I actually created the 2026 Kuwait International Airport drone strikes? I don’t know what’s wrong with this? GeronimokuwaitGames (talk) 18:58, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

That being said, EatingCarBatteries is there a reason you didn't tag this with {{db-gs}}? 45dogs (they/them) (talk page) (contributions) 19:29, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Apologies for the misconception, I would like to keep the page though GeronimokuwaitGames (talk) 19:54, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
An administrator does have the discretion to leave the page alone without deleting it. It is ultimately up to them if the page is deleted or not. 45dogs (they/them) (talk page) (contributions) 20:36, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
In case it gets deleted, I highly recommend copy and pasting the source code into a text editor to save it. EatingCarBatteries (contribs | talk) 23:00, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Put simply, I forgot. Thanks for doing that + reminding me. EatingCarBatteries (contribs | talk) 19:59, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
I actually hadn't done that yet, I was double checking to make sure there wasn't something I was missing before doing it. I've now tagged it. 45dogs (they/them) (talk page) (contributions) 20:34, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
It's worth stating that the ECR decline message says

You must wait until your account becomes Extended confirmed before making further edits or resubmitting this draft.

Pretty much the only way to read this is that the draft can stay up, but they can't edit it. This contrasts with G5 - this'll need to be fixed. EatingCarBatteries (contribs | talk) 22:59, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
I understand the consequences, you can do what you need to do, I have the source code anyways GeronimokuwaitGames (talk) 05:29, 14 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of 2026 Kuwait International Airport drone strikes

edit

Thank you for your interest in the Arab–Israeli conflict. Due to past disruption, a special set of rules apply to anyone editing in this topic area. Specifically, only extended confirmed editors are allowed to make direct edits and page creations to this topic area. Since you currently do not meet the requirements to contribute to this topic area, the page you created has been nominated for speedy deletion under G5.

If you think this page does not fall under the general sanctions described, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Additionally you may wish to read about the topic restrictions here. 45dogs (they/them) (talk page) (contributions) 19:25, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

What about we revert it as a draft, and I resubmit it when I become extended comfirmed? GeronimokuwaitGames (talk) 20:00, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
The Extended Confirmed Restriction applies to every namespace, including draft. 45dogs (they/them) (talk page) (contributions) 20:34, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hi, I've deleted the page. As per WP:ARBECR, the extended confirmed restriction on the Arab-Israeli conflict applies to all edits and pages related to the topic area, broadly construed, as 45dogs has pointed out above. Extended confirmed status requires that you make 500 edits and be registered for 30 days; you've made 204 edits.
That being said, many of your previous 204 edits have been within the Arab-Israeli conflict topic area. I suggest making additional edits outside the topic area. Epicgenius (talk) 14:34, 14 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
