Welcome!

edit

Hello, GA2025, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Gemini Africa, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, which will be reviewed by other editors. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, visit the Teahouse, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! 🇵🇸🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦🇵🇸 12:11, 11 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hello GA2025. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Gemini Africa, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being employed (or being compensated in any way) by a person, group, company or organization to promote their interests. Paid advocacy on Wikipedia must be disclosed even if you have not specifically been asked to edit Wikipedia. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:GA2025. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=GA2025|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. 🇵🇸🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦🇵🇸 12:12, 11 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because it has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, website, or role, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must follow all these steps:

  1. Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  2. Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  3. Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  4. Provide a new username.

To do this, insert the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can search to see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is still available.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 12:14, 11 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Requested username:

Request reason:

to comply with wikipedia's username policy, i've reviewed Wikipedia's username policy and paid editing policy, and im ready to follow the neccessary steps, beginning with requesting a name change and disclosing i am a paid editor as soon as possible (I do not have a user page created yet) thank you :)

Decline reason:

Please address all four points raised above. Yamla (talk) 13:04, 11 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
1. I am a paid employee of Gemini Africa
2. I understand that my username cannot resemble or represent my company's name, and i am requesting an unblock as to apply for a name change again properly (proposed name: FadyWiki). I also understand that i must properly disclose that i am a paid editor of Gemini Africa's wiki page and that i must disclose this on my user page as well.
3. I will continue building my credibility as an editor by amending grammar and readability issues on wikipedia pages, and will disclose my affiliation with Gemini Africa before i continue drafting the company's wikipedia page. I will submit the article for review properly from my drafts as i have learned from my prior mistake. Further on, i would love to edit and update pages relating to topics im passionate about such as football and Formula 1

Request reason:

To comply with Wikipedia's username policy of not referencing a company

Decline reason:

Procedural decline. Please open only one unblock request at a time. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 14:04, 12 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Furthermore, I understand that Wikipedia is not for promotion, Gemini Africa's wikipedia page will show the history of the company through verified facts from press releases.
Thank you for your time :) GA2025 (talk) 15:35, 11 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
I have renamed your account. Another uninvolved admin will review your unblock request. 16:06, 11 August 2025 (UTC)
Thank you, but no. Press releases are wholly inappropriate and are useless as references. We have no interest in what you wish to say about your employer, nor what your employer wishes to say though its press releases.
Please tell us what topics you will edit if you are unblocked? 🇵🇸🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦🇵🇸 18:49, 11 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Note, please, that titivating grammar and spelling does not prove your bona fides 🇵🇸🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦🇵🇸 18:54, 11 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Understood, thank you for renaming my account. To clarify, the sources that I had used to create the page are independent of the company. The purpose of the article is not to market or advertise, simply as a source of information and documentation of the company in a community where Wikipedia pages are uncommon and not widely used.
As for articles I want to edit, I want to continue drafting Gemini Africa's Wikipedia article properly by submitting it for review. After this, I want to edit Wikipedia pages of sports I enjoy, specifically English Football and Formula 1. Im also a huge superhero fan, mainly of the Flash (CW and comic versions) and the Fantastic 4 (Comics versions) FadyWiki (talk) 22:03, 11 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I understand that my block came as a result of not following the Username policy and not correctly disclosing that i am a paid editor, as i did not know i had to add this to my user page. My purpose when updating the article was to create a source of information and background, not to promote any businesses. I now understand that this has to be submitted through the Articles For Creation process. Im asking for an unblock to properly edit the page i was trying to create through the correct processes, and continue to edit unrelated sources for my own personal experience. FadyWiki (talk) 07:59, 12 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Accept reason:

I've fixed the paid template on your userpage for you so that it now specifies that your only paid edits are to Gemini Africa (so it doesn't look like you're being paid to edit about English football). Please read WP:YESPROMO before you try writing about the company again, and thanks for promising to go through AfC next time. Please do consider taking Significa liberdade's advice. Hi there! I appreciate that you agree to use the Articles for Creation process. This is great! However, I would recommend that if you are unblocked, you start with improving articles for English Football and Formula 1, rather than working on those after working on your company's Wikipedia article. What do you think about that? Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 14:08, 12 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Definitely! I'll work on that on my personal time, thank you for your advice! FadyWiki (talk) 07:06, 13 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for all ur advice and help, I'll read up on Wiki's rules from now on and follow the advice!
