Thank you for your AFD comments
edit| The Original Barnstar | ||
| I am happy that you provided a great reasoning for deletion at WP:Articles for deletion/Hughes Bowl, in that the coverage is too trivial and thus fails GNG. I also appreciate your suggestion of a future Hughes family article once less trivial coverage can be found. I had opened the AFD on my own article in the first place to get quality comments like yours on record, so your comments there are well-appreciated! — Ceso femmuin mbolgaig mbung, mellohi! (Goodbye!) 20:13, 13 January 2026 (UTC) |
- By the way, would coverage on the Hughes brothers early-life interactions with each other, and their parents' attendance/reactions to their games, count as significant coverage for a hypothetical Hughes family article? — Ceso femmuin mbolgaig mbung, mellohi! (Goodbye!) 20:15, 13 January 2026 (UTC)
Hughes family continued
editWould information in this article be significant coverage for a hypothetical Hughes family (ice hockey) article? Information from this article includes:
- "In many ways, Ellen was her boys' first coach. [...] She taught all three sons to skate, laying the foundation for what would become the most crucial element of their game, just as it was hers."
- "When Jim transitioned to a role as director of player development for the Maple Leafs, he had more time to attend the boys' practices and games, watch games with them on TV or study clips the Leafs coaches were showing their pro players."
etc.
I also found this article about the family's religious background (that it is a mixed Catholic/Jewish household) but I need confirmation on whether religious background is significant information for GNG purposes. This specific fact is already documented on Jack Hughes. — Ceso femmuin mbolgaig mbung, mellohi! (Goodbye!) 21:57, 13 January 2026 (UTC)
- Of the sources you provided, I would say that the ESPN one is pretty good. Definitely not good for a Hughes Bowl article. However, I worry that having a family article breaks another policy we have. Typically, individual articles are preferred for each family member. The way they break could be the use of sources such as these. How you do that article is up to you, but I would recommend creating a draft first. Conyo14 (talk) 22:26, 13 January 2026 (UTC)
- 100% the Hughes Bowl article (about the 3 games themselves) is to be deleted due to the coverage in sources being too trivial to meet GNG. I'll G7 it when it devolves into too much "WP:FANCRUFT" citations.
- I am creating Draft:Hughes family (ice hockey). The main focus of a family article would be the family members' interactions with each other, as well as common things family members did together that would be redundant when repeated three or four times on the pages of each family member. — Ceso femmuin mbolgaig mbung, mellohi! editAre you sure it's OK to put down the Oilers-Ducks series before the Oilers game has ended? It only feels right to wait out of procedure. We generally don't tend to call things early. Mk8mlyb (talk) 03:32, 17 April 2026 (UTC)

- Yes. I would say that when it gets to the playoff games, yeah wait until it's over. Those were regular season games. Conyo14 (talk) 04:34, 17 April 2026 (UTC)
- Well, the season's just about over. You ready for the playoffs? Mk8mlyb (talk) 05:08, 17 April 2026 (UTC)
- @Mk8mlyb Yeah, Deadman137 might be able to join at some point during the 1st round. I'm hoping you can assist with game recaps as I work on the series recaps. Let's make this an easier year! Conyo14 (talk) 05:09, 17 April 2026 (UTC)
- Here's to a great year. Personally, the first round and second round are my favorite parts because of the sheer number of games, both possible and actually played. In particular, I'm looking forward to the Sabres beating the Bruins. As usual, I'm hoping for a lot of overtime games across the board. Mk8mlyb (talk) 05:22, 17 April 2026 (UTC)
- @Mk8mlyb Deadman137 has indeed returned. We should be able to handle most things together. If you have something to contribute, I suggest waiting after today's results to see what you can do. Series recaps are not completed until the end of the series though. Conyo14 (talk) 21:52, 18 April 2026 (UTC)

- @Conyo14: Did you change my series recap of the Hurricanes–Senators series? What parts did you not like about it? Mk8mlyb (talk) 00:02, 26 April 2026 (UTC)
- Yes. I thought yours was mostly fine. Just lowered the amount of story. We really want to just have a single sentence most of the time. Game 2 being the exception. My main gripe is there were 0 citations. So, it's just easier for me to cut and paste something I've been working on all week. Apologies if I overtook your work. You may use your sandbox and show me what you've written and I can edit it slightly if you'd like. Conyo14 (talk) 00:25, 26 April 2026 (UTC)

2026 playoffs
editIt's time for some rare trivia that could be added to the article. I did some digging and the Montreal/Tampa series is the only time in the 16+ playoff team era that former finalists since 1980 have faced each other in the opening round. Obviously the original six era has to be excluded as most series between those teams is a possible Final rematch from some previous year. Deadman137 (talk) 23:12, 19 April 2026 (UTC)
- I think that's a little too rare to add on to this. Conyo14 (talk) 01:05, 20 April 2026 (UTC)
- That and I don't have a citation for it. We do have a Mastergerwe97 sock using the account NeatLife474. Deadman137 (talk) 02:35, 20 April 2026 (UTC)
- Maybe? Seems mostly harmless. Conyo14 (talk) 02:59, 20 April 2026 (UTC)
- Are you sure? Accusing accounts of being sockpuppets is no funny matter. Mk8mlyb (talk) 22:52, 20 April 2026 (UTC)
- I'm not disagreeing, but I also don't have the tools to accuse someone. That being said, I know Deadman137 wouldn't pursue further Conyo14 (talk) 02:41, 21 April 2026 (UTC)

I'll address the previous conversation at a later time, right now it's time to focus on content. With that in mind, Jordan Martinook became the fifth player in Stanley Cup playoff history to receive a penalty shot in overtime (strangely all of them have missed) and he is the only player to miss a penalty shot in the playoffs in overtime and then later score the eventual game winning goal. Here is the main link for the penalty shot in overtime claim. The latter part doesn't have to be added to the series summary, though it can be verified through the corresponding game summaries. Deadman137 (talk) 06:23, 21 April 2026 (UTC)
- That I am actually adding due to the strange nature of how he got that penalty shot. I shall gladly take the link as well. Conyo14 (talk) 06:30, 21 April 2026 (UTC)

Sabres–Bruins edits
editDon't know if you noticed earlier, but there were edits made by ~2026-25410-90 of the Sabres–Bruins series section. Those edits are from me. I did not have access to my account at the time, so I had to make do with an anonymous account. Do you have any problems with this, or do you not care? Mk8mlyb (talk) 00:26, 27 April 2026 (UTC)
- I was wondering that, but all good. Conyo14 (talk) 02:45, 27 April 2026 (UTC)
- Alright. Also, I was wondering if we could try something unique for tomorrow. You think we should split up the work on the various games? You know, like, assign certain areas or tasks to certain people, such as me doing the goals for the games and you finding the NHL recap links or goalie stats? Or we could split it up per game, such as me doing the Flyers-Penguins game and you doing the Golden Knights-Mammoth game? And then when it's time for the series recaps, we can split that up in similar ways too, like me doing one series recap and you doing another, and then Deadman137 doing another. Now, if you don't want to do that, that's totally fine, but I think it's something we should consider. Mk8mlyb (talk) 03:32, 27 April 2026 (UTC)
- I think Deadman137 has returned to his personal life temporarily. He will be called if necessary. As for tomorrow's games, I should be available for the series recaps (if necessary). As for stats, please update them as close to the other ones as possible. The links were also incorrect in some areas. It might be good to check if the links stay active or go to 404s. Conyo14 (talk) 03:55, 27 April 2026 (UTC)
- So you want me to do the stats and links, while you do the series recaps. Got it. I can handle that. Either way, I've got to go to sleep around now, so see you tomorrow. Mk8mlyb (talk) 03:59, 27 April 2026 (UTC)
- @Mk8mlyb good night, and good luck Conyo14 (talk) 04:02, 27 April 2026 (UTC)
- All right, I'm back. We doing the same thing as before--I get goals and links, you do series recaps? If there's anything else you would like me to do, just let me know. Mk8mlyb (talk) 23:52, 28 April 2026 (UTC)
- I don't think so. NeatLife might get to the stats first, so watch out. Conyo14 (talk) 01:03, 29 April 2026 (UTC)
- @Mk8mlyb please wait until the end of the game to place in the stats. The reason is due to the league's inability to assign assists, goals, and saves at the proper time. Conyo14 (talk) 02:04, 29 April 2026 (UTC)
- I hate how he gets ahead of me on that stuff. But fine. Mk8mlyb (talk) 02:06, 29 April 2026 (UTC)
- Do it in your sandbox first, then prepare like 10 seconds prior to the end. Only undo if a goal is scored. Conyo14 (talk) 02:11, 29 April 2026 (UTC)
- I have just noticed that all eight series in the first round have had a game go into overtime. How often does that happen, and is it special enough to warrant a mention? Mk8mlyb (talk) 18:24, 1 May 2026 (UTC)
- Happens pretty frequently. What's less frequent is every series in the playoffs has an overtime goal. Conyo14 (talk) 21:11, 1 May 2026 (UTC)
- When's the last time that happened? If at all? Mk8mlyb (talk) 00:38, 2 May 2026 (UTC)
