Citation errors

edit

Hi Carlosmarkos2345. Thanks for adding certifications Wikipedia was missing, your contributions are appreciated. However, there are some recurring errors you are making which I needed to correct, the most important being citation errors. If you leave the article without a working citation, the certification cannot be verified which undermines the purpose of Wikipedia. Let me list some of the corrections I needed to make by way of example:

  • In this edit you added a Spain certification but didn't provide the source. There are three ways to add sources for Spanish certifications and the simplest one is to provide ‹See TfM›|artist= and ‹See TfM›|title=, as I did Special:Diff/1232335898, after verifying it is working. Other citation methods can be seen in the {{Certification Table Entry}} documentation.
  • In this edit you used the incorrect artist name so the citation didn't work. This is the corrected version.
  • In this edit you added an old RIAA certification but the citation is incorrect since the title was not the one being used by the RIAA database. I corrected it here.
  • In this edit you added another old RIAA certification but the citation didn't work. I corrected it by working around the ' sign here.
  • In this edit you used the incorrect artist name so the citation failed. Corrected here
  • You used {{Certification Table Bottom}} template incorrectly several times. The bottom template should match the footnotes used in the table itself. An example of how I corrected it can be seen here.
  • You used the incorrect ‹See TfM›|caption= "Sales and certifications for X". If you don't override the sales amount using ‹See TfM›|salesamount= and ‹See TfM›|salesref=, the caption should be "Certifications for X".
  • In almost all your edits, you are using ‹See TfM›|access-date= incorrectly. This parameter is for "Full date when the content pointed to by url was last verified to support the text in the article", see for example {{cite web}}.

There were also other minor errors but I Think this is enough to chew on. I recommend that you use the preview button and make sure your citations are working before submitting an edit, or, at the very least, check the citation after you submit the edit. If you need any assistance, {{ping}} me or leave me a message on my talk page and I'd be happy to help. --Muhandes (talk) 07:05, 3 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

I appreciate the efforts you made on your recent edits, but please review your edits and make sure the citations work. In this edit, made recently, the citation didn't work and I needed to correct it. The RIAA database is quite finicky and you sometimes need to massage the title and artist until the citation works. Muhandes (talk) 11:12, 3 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
You continue to mean well, but sadly, you also continue not checking your citations. The resulting citation of this edit for the Spanish database doesn't work. This is the correct citation. I really don't want to stalk you, so I'm not going to do that anymore (unless you come up on one of the maintenance categories again). Just please pay more attention and check your citations. My offer for help still stands, {{ping}} me or leave me a message. Happy editing. Muhandes (talk) 09:26, 4 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
You are forcing the community's hand to do something about this situation.
I am starting to think that there is a problem of competence here. Maybe you have good intentions, but you are not competent enough to edit in a net positive manner. You create too much work that others have to clean up. Also, note that Communication is required. Wikipedia is a collaborative project. Sometimes, you must engage in constructive discussions with others or you risk sanctions. Your heart is in the correct place, but if you continue to create so much work for the community to fix, and are not willing to communicate, perhaps you should not be editing. Information icon Hello, I'm Smuckola. I noticed that you recently removed content from 64DD without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Saying Donkey Kong 64 doesn't exist or that or the 64DD project didn't exist, was nonsense. Do not delete WP:RSes for almost any reason. You've been given lots of warnings of other blockable offenses. BTW, that nonsense was the rare time you ever used an WP:EDITSUMMARY but they are required. Thanks for your upload to Wikipedia:

You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete or generic. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. The Cocoanuts is a 1929 pre-Code musical comedy film starring the Marx Brothers (Groucho, Harpo, Chico, and Zeppo). Produced for Paramount Pictures by Walter Wanger, who is not credited, the film also stars Mary Eaton, Oscar Shaw, Margaret Dumont and Kay Francis. The first sound film to credit more than one director (Robert Florey and Joseph Santley), it was adapted to the screen by Morrie Ryskind from the musical play by George S. Kaufman. Five of the film's tunes were composed by Irving Berlin, including "When My Dreams Come True", sung by Oscar Shaw and Mary Eaton. Principal photography began on February 4, 1929, at Paramount’s Astoria studio, and it premiered on May 23, 1929, at the Rialto Theatre in New York.

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you translated text from es:Pau_Que_Nasce_Torto_/_Melô_do_Tchan to Pau Que Nasce Torto / Melô do Tchan. While you are welcome to translate Wikipedia content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing requires that you provide attribution to the contributor(s) of the original article. When translating from a foreign-language Wikipedia article, this is supplied at a minimum in an edit summary on the page where you add translated content, identifying it as a translation and linking it to the source page. Sample wording for this is given here. If you forgot, or were not aware of this requirement, attribution must be given retroactively, for example:

NOTE: Content in the edit of 01:25, January 25, 2023 was translated from the existing French Wikipedia article at [[:fr:Exact name of French article]]; see its history for attribution.

Retroactive attribution may be added using a dummy edit; see Repairing insufficient attribution. It is good practice, especially if translation is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{translated page}} template on the talk page of the destination article. If you have added translated content previously which was not attributed at the time it was added, you must add attribution retrospectively, even if it was a long time ago. Hallelujah is a 1929 American pre-Code musical film distributed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM), directed by King Vidor, and starring Daniel L. Haynes and Nina Mae McKinney. Filmed in Tennessee and Arkansas, and chronicling the troubled quest of the sharecropper Zeke Johnson (Haynes) and his relationship with the seductive Chick (McKinney), Hallelujah was one of the first films with an all–African-American cast produced by a major studio. Released on August 20, 1929, Hallelujah was Vidor's first sound film, and combined sound recorded on location with sound recorded post-production in Hollywood. It was intended for a general audience, and was considered so risky a venture that MGM required Vidor to invest his own salary in the production. He expressed an interest in "showing the Southern Negro as he is" and attempted to present a relatively non-stereotyped view of African-American life, though the film has been criticized for prejudice and stereotyping. Hallelujah entered the public domain in 2025.
