Vince Foster suicide page

edit

I have tried to edit the Vince Foster suicide page to mention that Vince Foster was at the White House the day he died. Why when I add this most important fact it is always edited out? The last photos of Vince Foster with President Clinton have been hidden. Can Wiki change history? Not with me telling everyone... Nelsonbaker77 (talk) 11:12, 26 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

You need to cite reliable sources, especially when implying that Vince Foster attended a photo op on the day of his suicide or that Wikipedia is censoring information. You should see Help:Referencing for beginners. CarbonLollipop talkcontribs 00:25, 27 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Advice

edit

A word of advice. Sometimes you get an article to good article status a lot easier than get an article to featured article status. I think it's better for you to get an article to good article status first before you start the nomination for featured article status because it's a lot harder. TheAmazingPeanuts (talk) 10:20, 29 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hey, thanks for the advice. I considered getting it to GA or going to PR, but chose FAR because it seemed the quickest and most thorough. I've withdrawn my FAC for now after finding a few more sources that could be used. CarbonLollipop talkcontribs 22:57, 30 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
You can try again in the future, but I think it will be easier for you to get an article to GA than FA. I know a fellow editor tried to get My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy to FA but failed five times. So I think you should focus on getting articles to GA status first. Thugged Out Pissed Off

edit

Hello there. Please add the month you added these templates into the Use mdy dates and Use American English templates. Your edit placed the article into the parent category which should be empty on normal circumstances. MimirIsSmart (talk) 05:45, 8 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

Oops. Thanks for fixing that for me. CarbonLollipop talkcontribs 05:56, 8 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hey CarbonLollipop, thanks for the recent review of Cold Visions. In your spotcheck, you said you have seen some discourse over HotNewHipHop not being a reliable source. Do you think you can send over those discussions? AFAIK it has been reliable (per WP:ALBUM/SOURCE) so I just want to see why some people are saying it's unreliable. Thanks! Locust member (talk) 14:52, 23 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

I think I saw it at an FAC here. From what I see it is good enough for GA, but not a "high-quality reliable source" for FA. CarbonLollipop talkcontribs 23:41, 23 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
Ohhh I see, thank you! I have no interest in getting an article to FA anytime soon so I shouldn't have to worry. Locust member (talk) 00:59, 24 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

John Glacier

edit

I was going to create an article for Glacier because a quick search showed enough notability for her as an artist (in my personal opinion). I noticed you recently created an article on her album Like a Ribbon. Do you mind if I do this? wizzito | say hello! 04:20, 25 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

I don't mind at all—go ahead! CarbonLollipop talkcontribs 05:09, 25 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
Just curious as to why you decided to make the article about the album before the artist? Generally I dislike when editors do this as it confuses readers who are most likely looking for information about the artist but are instead redirected to an article about one of their albums. This is especially true because one of the top Google queries for many artists without articles (or who only have these album-only articles) is "[artist name] Wikipedia." wizzito | say hello! 01:12, 17 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
a little anecdote but I find that if one of the top Google searches for an artist or person is "Wikipedia" and they do not have an article, they are more likely WP-notable than not. wizzito | say hello! 01:14, 17 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
At the time that I created the article for Like a Ribbon, I was unsure about Glacier's notability. As far as confusing readers goes, I think an article about an article-less artist's album is always better than nothing. CarbonLollipop talkcontribs 01:57, 7 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hello CarbonLollipop. Regarding the recent revert you made: you may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template index/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. Thank you. Lynch44 21:34, 7 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
