Wikidata shown on Wikipedia
Regarding this edit, what purpose does the column of Wikidata Items serve? Wikidata is not meant to be seen out in the open, as it were, on Wikipedia. Abductive (reasoning) 22:24, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
- Including the Wikidata number beside individual items in a table of monuments or artworks provides a link to further sources of information on that specific item, including the various art databases, national archives and major libraries with relevant entries. Also there is often a map there with, accurate, coordinates for the statue or monument. In short, including the Wikidata number in the table forefills the same, or very similar, service that the Authority Control template provides on a single-subject article page. Unintentional 'edit war'
Apologies 14GTR, I just realised that we have been adding/removing categories to a few of the same files on Commons. As most of these are your photos, I am doubly embarrassed. This was absolutely unintentional on my part (and left me a tad confused – I spend most of my time here on enwiki and wikidata, so I'm a bit less knowledgeable about best practice over there on Commons). Concerning the image of a placard for the 2024 London Design Festival, I was adding this to the V&A room categories that are actually listed on the sign (my logic being that this could be useful in future for a record of things that were exhibited in these spaces, etc.). Am I missing something obvious? (Just as happy not to add these categories if that is preferable for whatever reason.) Cheers, Cl3phact0 (talk) 20:18, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
- No need to apologise but thank you anyway. Regarding that placard it's obvious from the background that it is in the Cromwell Road entrance of the museum, so that would be the most approprite category for it. The category for the Craft x Tech exhibition links to the Prince Consort Gallery anyway.

- Noted, thank you. As there are six exhibitions (and even more specific rooms) cited on the sign itself, I thought that it made sense to try and make a connection to some of the others too. Perhaps just adding more detail in the description rather than additional categories would accomplish this as well, however it would mean that someone would have to be searching for these details, so would be less likely to make a lucky discovery (which is often how I find things on Commons, alas). Westminster Abbey

Some things you should know
I understand that you want to be constructive, but some of your edits, usually regarding hatnotes and disambiguation pages do not fit WP:MOS guidelines. For example, you added a hatnote linking to Harold Williamson (disambiguation) on the page for Harold Sandys Williamson, even though it should not be there per WP:NOTAMB. I just don't want to have to keep removing unnecessary hatnotes. GilaMonster536 (talk) 00:29, 10 November 2024 (UTC)
- I would dispute that it is an unnecessary hatnote as in the art literature, or at least in the volumes on my bookshelf, the artist in question is referred to Harold Williamson as often as Harold Sandys Williamson so the hatnote is, potentially at least, of some use. Likewise your removal of content from the Nutt page is of no help to anyone. Placing format over content is rarely a constructive approach. I appreciate you are a relatively new editor but please be aware editing WP is as much about judging what is most useful to the readers in a particular situation as enforcing a suite of rules. - I also noticed that sometimes when you link to disambiguation pages with a pipe (the "|"), even if the target page's name already ends with "disambiguation." Just noting that this is not necessary and makes it look like you're linking back to the same page. For example, you did this on Andrew Sinclair's page. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
