Bikash Kami (also known as Bikash Rasaili) is a Nepali political activist and candidate for the 2026 Nepalese general election. He is contesting for the House of Representatives from the Chitwan 1 constituency representing the Progressive Democratic Party. He rose to national prominence as a leader in the youth-led Gen Z Movement and for his advocacy against predatory lending (loansharks) in Nepal.
Early Life and Community
Kami belongs to the Dalit community, a group historically marginalized in Nepal's socio-political structure. His political identity is rooted in representing the "oppressed classes" and bringing the voices of marginalized youth into the formal legislative process.
Activism
edit[2]== Anti-Loanshark Movement == Before his transition into electoral politics, Kami was a key figure in the Anti-Loanshark Movement (Meter-byaj Pidit). He advocated for rural farmers and low-income families who were victims of financial exploitation by local moneylenders. He was vocal against the "financial exploitation" of activists and victims, demanding legal reforms to protect the poor from debt traps.
Gen Z Movement
editFollowing the government's social media ban in early September 2025, Kami became a prominent leader in the Gen Z Movement Alliance.[3]
- September 8, 2025: On this date, he was fully involved in the massive youth-led protests at Maitighar Mandala, Kathmandu.
- He played a role in the Gen Z Movement Alliance, which sought to transition the energy of street protests into a organized "Gen-G" (Generation Government) political force.
- His platform focused on ending "Nepo-baby" culture (nepotism in politics) and demanding digital freedom.
[4]== 2026 Election Candidacy == On January 20, 2026, Kami officially filed his candidacy for the Chitwan 1 constituency. Running under the Progressive Democratic Party[5], his campaign focuses on:
- Youth Representation: Bridging the gap between the aging political elite and the younger generation.
- Social Justice: Advancing the rights of the Dalit community and victims of financial fraud.
- Systemic Reform: Promoting the values of the 2025 uprising, including transparency and anti-corruption.
