Hello! My name is Surya, although I go online by the name Gears (which unfortunately is taken everywhere).

I'm a programmer by trade, and a big fan of open source projects and community-driven projects like Wikipedia. I made a Wikipedia account because I thought the idea of a community-editable website was neat. I initially thought I would just be "contributing a few edits here and there", but then suddenly I found that I had made over 500 edits in one month, and was thoroughly addicted.

I have many interests, including maths, computers, travel, and politics. Most of my edits are one of the following:

Creating or improving train-related articles
Creating women's biographies
Improving and expanding UK politics articles
Improving computer science articles
Answering edit requests
Reverting vandalism
Making small improvements like fixing typos, adding categories, adding maintenance templates, and assessing articles
