ChileMass (officially Chile–Massachusetts Alliance Inc.) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in the Kendall Square area.[1] Founded in 2017, it supports collaboration between Chilean and Massachusetts-based institutions in entrepreneurship, education, and innovation.[2]

History

The initiative traces its origins to a 2011 Memorandum of Understanding signed by Chilean President Sebastián Piñera and Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick to encourage collaboration and knowledge exchange.[3] ChileMass was incorporated as a nonprofit organization in 2017.[4]ChileMass has been described by MIT Sloan as an initiative that emerged in connection with a bilateral agreement between Chile and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts signed in 2011.[5]

ChileMass runs programs related to entrepreneurship and education, including startup acceleration and educator development initiatives.[6]

ChileMass hosts an annual event known as ChileMass Innovation Day, featuring programming on innovation, entrepreneurship, and international collaboration.[7]
