  • ... that 291 people were killed in the sinking of the Hirano Maru by a German submarine less than six weeks before the end of the First World War?
  • Source: "Of the 320 souls on board, only 29 survived" from: "Hirano Maru". Coflein. British Government. Retrieved 24 November 2024. and "on October 4, the Japanese liner Hirano Maru was struck by a torpedo and rapidly sank; the rescue work of the United States destroyer Sterett was impeded by the U-boat" from: Gibson, R. • New enough (moved to mainspace May 23) and long enough. Hook is definitely interesting and is inline cited to WP:RS, specifically a book by Robert Gibson (who probably merits his own WP article). Image is tagged public domain and, appears to be, correctly so. Two QPQs are done. Earwig returns a 4.8% of on a copyvio check, indicating violation unlikely. I only checked the primary hook as that seems the best of the triumvirate. Looks good! Chetsford (talk) 19:28, 25 May 2025 (UTC)
