Which dialect of English are we using?
editI ask this because the word “meter” is spelled two different ways on here. While I’m not going to advocate for a particular spelling, I would like to ask which version of English we are using in this article that way we can be consistent. If it’s American spelling (eg: center, meter, defense, organize) then it should be American spelling throughout the entire article (save for direct quotes); if it’s British spelling (eg: centre, metre, defence, organise) than it should be British spelling throughout the entire article (again save for direct quotations). But what we have here right now is most certainly NOT consistent. It would appear as if there is a mix of American and British spelling in this article. See MOS:ENGVAR. - I am also going to ping the last five people that has edited this article; so that we can get some answers on this. The reason I’m doing this is because the only edits to this talk page other than mine, that have taken place in the last 10 to 15 years has been from bot accounts. - Usually when it is a non-English speaking country it’s usually whatever variety was used first. I just dug down into the history. It was originally written solely in American English; and I don’t see any clear ties to the Commonwealth.
