Not nephew

edit

Under Career subtitle it says: In 1025 he, his nephew Arslan, and his brother Chaghri (Çağrı) served under the Kara-Khanids of Bukhara...

Well it seems there is a confusion of names. Arslan was not Tuğrul's nephew. He was the uncle. To be sure, there was also a nephew named Alp Arslan (the future sultan). But Alp Arslan wasn't around in 1025. (Alparslan's birth date is 1029) Nedim Ardoğa (talk) 13:06, 18 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

The name Arslan is cleared. Reason aboce. Nedim Ardoğa (talk) 11:27, 28 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Capture of Baghdad by the Fatimids in 1058

edit

Is there any evidence to support the the implied assertion that at some time in the mid-1050s the Fatimid Caliphate captured Baghdad or any other part of Iraq?Delamer100 (talk) 16:06, 7 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Spelling

edit

There is only Persian reading in the article. I do not understand why ? As is known, these are Turkic leaders. Why Persian spelling alone is placed on the head of the article? What is the reason of this ? I removed the persian spelling from the head of the article because it was irrelevant.

It is not an objective point of view to place the article only persian spelling. These people are not of Persian origin, or persian speaking. This is so misleading. There is no use for readers. It is not an impartial point of view.--78.165.85.180 (talk) 16:22, 24 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Because it has nothing to do with ethnicity. The official and the administrative language of Seljuks was Persian. Look at the source, it is Rahat al-sudur, a book in Persian language about Seljuks, wrote by Muhammad bin Ali Rawandi, a Seljuk historian. -- Mazandar (talk) 17:01, 24 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for your participation. This is not just a reason to persuade the Persian spelling to the article. These people is Turkic leaders. Speaking the Turkic language. Putting only Persian spelling, It misleads readers. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. It is not impartial that only Persian spelling is involved. I want to ask you a question. What is the purpose of spelling in Wikipedia?--78.165.85.180 (talk) 17:31, 24 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
They were of Turkic origin, and certainly they spoke Turkic, this is true. But we can't include Turkish spelling with Latin script in the article, since modern Turkish language has nothing to do with a medieval Turkic dynasty. Look at Avicenna, we only included the Arabic spelling, this is because he wrote mostly in Arabic, even though it is known that he wrote some works in Persian and even two of his Persian works are still extant, but that's nothing compared to his Arabic works. As you see, it has nothing to do with ethnicity or spoken language, the initial spelling is for those who want to read more about the subject in primary sources, and also for showing the origin of the name. Before you ask, let me tell you Tughril is a Turkic name, but we know about this name through Persian primary sources. -- Mazandar (talk) 17:44, 24 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
