– Street is not a place name, therefore should not be followed by ", London" but rather the "London" clarification should be in brackets. TBM10 (talk) 19:17, 5 August 2014 (UTC)

• Oppose. I don't think "not a place name" is a valid reason to not use disambiguation by comma. The determining factor should be whether comma disambiguation in this case is natural - whether it's commonly used in reliable sources. I was going to support on the assumption that it is not commonly used, but a Google books search indicates otherwise. --В²C ☎ 19:49, 5 August 2014 (UTC)

• Having looked on other Wikiprojects, my suggested name changes are also in use elsewhere: College Street (Toronto), Lombard Street (Baltimore), and 57th Street (Manhattan) for example. --TBM10 (talk) 06:29, 6 August 2014 (UTC)

• Oppose. North American articles use parentheses. British and most European articles use commas, as is common in British English. There is some inconsistency, but that is usually remedied as soon as it's spotted. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:25, 6 August 2014 (UTC)
• Oppose. First, a street is a location and an address and a street name is indeed a place name. Second, the convention of using comma disambiguation for UK streets and roads is well established, e.g. Vine Street, London, Queen Victoria Street, London, Gower Street, London, Park Crescent, London, Park Square, London, Abbey Road, London, Caledonian Road, London, Park Lane, London, and many others. Wlight reworking

Can the bracket prior to 'prior' be paired or changed - a colon or full stop might be more appropriate.: present usage is slightly ambiguous. Jackiespeel (talk) 13:04, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
