So, what's actually the name of this demon?

edit

The title of this article is "Tir (demon)" but yet the article itself starts with In Islamic demonology, Thabr (ثبر) is.... This change, from "Tir" to "Thabr", was made almost three years ago, and since then there have been no other edits. I don't speak Arabic but I can read the alphabet, and ثبر does clearly read th-b-r, so that edit isn't obviously erroneous. This then leads to the question: if the article itself gives the name Thabr, and doesn't explain where the name "Tir" comes from, then why is the article named Tir? (Unless maybe when the article was first created, the Arabic name was misspelled and then that later edit "corrected" the wrong thing?) — oatco (talk) 23:20, 29 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

I have not noticed this change, and the differences might be due to different spellings and pronunciations. Jsut as some say Jibril and others Jibrail. I think most secondary sources say Tir. Tafsir Tabari, however, writes it as "ثبر". So, ثبر it is I guess? VenusFeuerFalle (talk) 01:13, 30 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
