Looking for guidance on improving this draft
editHello everyone,
I'm new to editing and im trying to improve my draft on my grandad Stephen Ramsey as I relied too much on AI, which caused problems on the toning and sourcing. I understand why that was an issue, and now I'm rewriting it and hopefully asking for anyone that could point me towards what the draft is missing in terms of reliable independent sources or structure, I'd be grateful. Just here to learn and improve the article properly. Thank you. Wiki4RAMZY (talk) 16:16, 30 November 2025 (UTC)
- Hello, the draft is fine tone-wise, but as with all AI-generated content, you have to manually check if the cited sources actually verify the information it is cited for. Also, did you take the picture included in the draft? Ca talk to me! 06:44, 7 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hello @Ca I all that have been cited verify the information provided, you just have to scroll down to find it one the website. And the picture was taken by Imperial College as I've credited them. If there's any problems please let me know, Thank you. Wiki4RAMZY (talk) 06:58, 7 January 2026 (UTC)
- If so, unfortunately the copyright of the image is wholly owned by Imperial College and cannot stay on Wikipedia. Ca talk to me! 07:02, 7 January 2026 (UTC)
- But if it was on behalf of Stephen Ramsey to allow me to use it I could, right? Wiki4RAMZY (talk) 07:05, 7 January 2026 (UTC)
- Maybe, but I doubt Rmasey owns the copyright to the photo given he is not the one who is taking the photo. The copyright likely belongs to the University. I've sent you instructions on getting approval from the copyright holder here. I hope it helps! Ca talk to me! 07:09, 7 January 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you for your feedback, I do have a question though. If the image comes from the Imperial website that specifically talks about Stephen wouldn't that fall under fair use on Wikipedia? Correct me if I’m wrong. Thank You! Wiki4RAMZY (talk) 07:57, 7 January 2026 (UTC)
- Good point. Wikipedia has intentionally stricter definition of Fair Use than practiced elsewhere. For portraits, fair use is only allowed after the subject in question has died, where the possibility of taking a copyright-free photo is impossible. The relevant policy is at WP:NFCC. Draft accepted, But wondering on one thing
editHello everyone,
Very pleased my article has been accepted. I was just wondering if I could still add that Stephen Ramsey appeared on QI: Series L, Episode 6 - Liblabble. He created the Dutch tears used on the programme. Unfortunately he's been cut out on streaming services like BBC IPlayer would I still be able to cite a website that has his name created like Imdb Please let me know. Thanks! - IMDb is user edited, so not reliable and cannot be used to support anything on Wikipedia. Theroadislong (talk) 17:41, 7 January 2026 (UTC)
- What about this website that has his name credited if so how should I go about mentioning the fact they cut him out. There's also a transcript I found but it's a html so obviously thats a weak source. Wiki4RAMZY (talk) 17:52, 7 January 2026 (UTC)
- It clearly isn't notable enough to even mention. Theroadislong (talk) 18:00, 7 January 2026 (UTC)
