I want to add another reporting website source about Starbucks' "Tank Day" promotion event controversy:

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2026/jun/06/starbucks-south-korea-tank-day-promotion-blunder

I also want to rewrite (or expand on) the information about the controversy:

In 18 May 2026, Starbucks Korea released a promotion for "Tank Day" coffee tumblers, which was criticized for evoking memories of the Gwangju Uprising in 1980. The campaign also featured the slogan "thwack on the desk", which was widely interpreted as a reference to the false explanation given by police following the 1987 torture death of student activist Park Jong-chul. Starbucks Korea apologized, and stated that the slogan had been selected after marketers consulted an artificial intelligence tool for promotional suggestions. The company also acknowledged that several managers who approved the campaign had not reviewed the attached marketing materials in full.

The company released a statement: "While unintentional, this should never have happened. We recognize the deep pain and offense this has caused, particularly to those who honor the victims, their families, and all who contributed to Korea’s democratization", it said in a statement. The company said it was reviewing internal review standards and training to ensure the incident was not repeated. The company also said that they're sincerely apologize to the people of Gwangju, to those impacted by the Gawngju tragedy, and to their customers and communities".

But I couldn't edit the page. If you guys willing to help me, it would be appericated. SapatravaKuroChan06 (talk) 14:10, 6 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Partly done: Your proposed version is a bit too detailed for the article, but I've added some of it. Day Creature (talk) 14:51, 6 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Could you help me add additional updates on the Tank Day promotion event fiasco? I got additional sources:

https://www.straitstimes.com/business/starbucks-korea-to-shut-stores-early-on-june-22-for-history-lessons-after-tank-day-fiasco

On 15 June 2026, Starbucks Korea also said that all of its employees will “receive education in historical awareness and social sensitivity through watching videos”, and as a result, stores countrywide will shutter in afternoon of the same day and not reopen, with the exceptions of a handful of outlets at airports in South Korea.

You can rewrite this to be better as you want. Any help would be appericated. SapatravaKuroChan06 (talk) 11:42, 15 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Already done Someone else has now added this. Day Creature (talk) 22:34, 15 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

I found another reporting source about the Tank Day fiasco and will somebody help me add these in?

https://www.channelnewsasia.com/east-asia/starbucks-south-korea-tank-day-police-shinsegae-6192171

Shinsegae Group executives were investigated by South Korean police as a result of the promotion event fiasco. SapatravaKuroChan06 (talk) 13:46, 18 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Not done. It's not clear what changes you want to make. And on a more personal note, for crissakes, do we really need to document every little PR kerfuffle a major corporation finds themselves in? This really seems to be biased towards WP:RECENTISM and fail the WP:TENYEARTEST, and especially the longer view. Deacon Vorbis (carbon  videos) 16:22, 18 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
