Below I have listed exactly what changes should be made along with relevant source links.
Change 1 - Change Introduction of page to the following text:
Sporting Memories is a British registered social enterprise and charity.[1] [2] Sporting Memories runs community Clubs and programmes predominantly for older people aged 50+, particularly those living with long-term health conditions like dementia, Parkinson’s disease or those living with depression or are lonely or isolated, with the aim of improving their physical and mental wellbeing and helping them stay connected through the use of sports-based reminiscence, social and inclusive physical activity.
Change 2 - add in section explaining Sporting Memories 'Approach'
Approach
editSporting Memories hosts Clubs in local community settings, such as care homes, churches, leisure centres, libraries and sports grounds, that are available for older people aged 50+ from the local community to attend regular sessions, either on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis.
The sessions feature a mixture of discussion, sporting reminiscence and inclusive physical activities which are run by locally-based volunteers with the support of bespoke resources produced by Sporting Memories.

Origins and History
editIn 2011, Sporting Memories was Co-founded by Christopher Wilkins and Antony Jameson-Allen following a pilot project in 15 care homes across Leeds, where they used resources developed by the organisation that were initially trailed in England and Scotland. The first Sporting Memories Club was established in Haddington, East Lothian early in 2012, before further Clubs were launched through projects in England including Bristol, South Gloucestershire and Yorkshire.[3]
In 2013, The Sporting Memories Foundation was granted charitable status and in the same year The Replay Memories website was launched.[4]
In 2015, Sporting Memories enhanced its reminiscence and intergenerational work further with the launch of the Replay Memories App and website as well as its ‘Spirit Of The Games’[5] project (Relaunched in 2026 under a new name of Replay Memory Makers) which supported schools and colleges to undertake sporting memories activities with older people.
In 2017, A Sporting Memories Club featured in Alan Shearer’s documentary focusing on Dementia and Football for the BBC.[6]
In 2019, Sporting Memories supported the launch of the first Club in Australia under its licence, and launched its first ever Clubs in Wales in 2020.
In April 2021, Co-Founder Antony Jameson-Allen left Sporting Memories.[7]
In 2023, Co-Founder Chris Wilkins was awarded an MBE for services to Loneliness and supporting those living with dementia in the New Year Honours List.[8]
In 2025, Sporting Memories teamed up with the 20th International Island Games held in Orkney to celebrate the 40th anniversary since the Games began with a series of reminiscence and historical and intergenerational projects.[9]
In 2026, the organisation was supported by the Glasgow 2026 Festival Fund to run a series of events and activities to celebrate sport, culture and community taking place in the lead up to and during the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.[10]

editSporting Memories has developed a range of resources that support its work to engage older people through reminiscence and inclusive physical activities.
KITbags The #KITbags contains items such as stress ball, resistance band and a beach ball that are designed to aid physical activity at home for older and frail people. [11]
Replay Cards Replay Cards contain images of historical sporting figures, with the aim of stimulating memories and conversations for older people through an interest in sport. The images featured on the cards are provided by Mirrorpix. [12]
Replay Memories Replay Memories is a website and mobile app that holds a collection of over 2,000 sporting memories, shared by sports stars, Sporting Memories Club members and volunteers as well as the wider public. Similar to the Replay Cards, these are designed to stimulate memories and conversations for older people with an interest in sport.[13]
The Sporting Pink® The Sporting Pinks are a series of printed and digital publications that are used at Sporting Memories Clubs. They feature articles on historical sporting moments, quizzes and various activities for older people to try at sessions or at home. [14]

2014 – Dementia Friendly Awards - Sporting Memories Network CIC was presented the award for "Best National Dementia Friendly Initiative" by then Secretary of State for Health, Jeremy Hunt.[25]
2014 - Football Business Awards – Winner of Best Football Community Scheme Award[26]
2017 – Football Business Awards – Silver Award – Best Business Serving Football category[27]
