Language

edit

I think that there should be a other languages example Arabic, Hindi, Malaysian, Burmese, urdu & Bengali. they are migrated to other countries so it may be assumed as they a learn the local language for the communication and other basic needs. Mr.work-shy (talk) 15:11, 31 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

I even doubt that the majority of the 2 million speak an ancient language, given that there was a very small number of muslims in the first half of 20th century. Seems like a distortion of the real ethnicity and real language spoken. — 95.24.73.146 (talk) 20:42, 3 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Request to replace the “ Ethnolinguistic Group” with “Ethnic Group” for Rohingya

edit

I think the description of the Rohingya should be changed from Ethnolinguistic group to ethnic group.

Rohingya’s political, legal, and social identity is rooted in their status as an ethnic group. Ethnolinguistic group for Rohingay seems a bit misleading. Denying it as Ethnic group may dilute the ethnic and political struggle of Rohingya.

Also, in the context of human rights, refugee protections, and international law, the Rohingya are consistently recognized as an ethnic group:

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Dahawk04 (talk) 18:44, 7 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

I would like to request a revision to this article due to concerns about biased language and lack of neutrality in certain parts. Some statements appear to favor one perspective without adequate citation or balanced viewpoints.

Please consider reviewing or revising the following section(s):

[Insert quote or section here if possible — or describe the biased content.]

Proposed change: Rewrite the section using neutral language, backed by reliable sources, in accordance with Wikipedia’s Neutral Point of View (NPOV) policy.

Suggested source(s): - [Insert link to a reliable source, e.g., UN report, academic journal, etc.]

I am raising this in good faith and would appreciate review from other editors. Thank you. EricOng77 (talk) 12:30, 11 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Not done @EricOng77:. You need to specify exactly what needs to be changed. Quote a sentence or paragraph in the text, provide a revised version, make sure you include reliable sources, and then someone will consider your request. General requests are not actionable. hey can the IPA be changed from [rʊˈɜjɲɟə] to [ru'aing(j)a] like in the language page thanks Sonimcrinebruh (talk) 07:35, 6 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Do you have a source for that? I like octopusestalk to me, talk to me 17:59, 6 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
1) i went to chattogram 2 years ago and heard the word pronounced like that by locals
2) ruˈaiŋg(j)a as a transcription uses the phonemes actually listed on the language page. [ɜ ɲ ə] are narrow transcription at best; not even how most chãtgaiya or rohingya pronounce it eithed Sonimcrinebruh (talk) 10:41, 7 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Both of those points are original research, which is not used for Wikipedia content. (They both effectively amount to "because I believe it to be so based on my knowledge/experience.") The current IPA pronunciation guide is used in a footnote on the Rohingya language page, and is sourced to a dictionary and primary source. That's what I'm looking for - a reliable source that says exactly the pronunciation you propose putting in. I like octopusestalk to me, talk to me 16:31, 7 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
