Hey! I will be reviewing this. It looks like you did a great job :) Before I start my full review, there is a tag on "Selected filmography" as it does not have sources, and some of the information is not featured in the career section and thus is completely unsourced. Could you please source the section (and remove/hide entries where there is no source) and then I will do a full review? :) DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 05:07, 1 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hello @DaniloDaysOfOurLives, thanks for taking the time to review. I'll work on it later or soon after I finish my personal work, but the selected filmography section I've already fixed it. AdobongPogi masarap 🍛 07:27, 1 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hey, I am so sorry for my lateness. I have been having some personal issues and hence I was unable to do the review. I will do it now. Thank you so much for pinging me :) DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 07:04, 7 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Review:

Hey, well done on the article! Earwig shows no copyright issues so I will go straight in with my comments:

Lead: There are several references and works cited in the lead that should be moved down to the main body.

Early life:

  1. "attended at Graphic Lyceum" - The "at" needs to be removed. Also, could you please clarify what "Graphic Lyceum" is?
  2. "the short film Zombi 1 as part of his studies" - Could you please clarify this? Did he create/direct/star in the film as part of his studies?
  3. " He studied at the Willem de Kooning Academy and attended at Graphic Lyceum" - Can you please clarify if these were at the same time or elsewhere?
  4. Is there any information on what he studied/got a degree in?
  5. Is there any information on his family or other early life info?

Career:

  1. "He spent years designing and developing ideas for his project Worst Case Scenario, directing the short film adaptation in 2004." - This needs a source.
  2. "who experiences a surreal moment" - Could this please be clarified?
  3. "and was screened at the Rotterdams Open Doek Festival in 2016" - Could you please clarify if the short film or the festival was screened there?
  4. "The film premiered at the Netherlands Film Festival and was later screened at the International Film Festival Rotterdam on 2 and 4 February 2012" - Could you please clarify if it was screened at the ITFR on 2 and 4 February or if the 2nd was at the NFF and the 4th was the IFFR?
  5. "The project would have focused on Wehrmacht soldiers reinforced by zombie troops, fighting in a prequel titled Army of Frankenstein (which was later renamed and reworked into Frankenstein's Army)" - I am a bit confused by this sentence, particularly "fighting in a prequel" and the fact that it was reworked - could you please clarify this?
  6. "He was nominated and won" - What was he nominated for?
  7. "Raaphorst and writer Eron Sheean announced that his upcoming film Möbius" - I would change "his" to "their"
  8. I am a bit confused on how Möbius has won awards despite filming not being complete?
  9. The last paragraph needs the tense changed to past tense (or, if it is in present tense, it needs "As of")

Filmmaking style:

  1. "especially influenced by early experiences such as constructing puppets from dolls" - I am a bit confused by this - does it mean that he used to construct puppets from dolls?
  2. "the marriage of war and grotesque fantasy" - This seems a bit too poetic/metaphorical, could you please quote it or rephrase it?
  1. "In 2020, Raaphorst attempted to revive his earlier abandoned project Worst Case Scenario by launching a crowdfunding campaign for a graphic novel adaptation of the story." - Is there any update on what happened to this?
  2. "On 10 May" - Can you please clarify which year?

Once these have been done I will do a source spotcheck. Please let me know if you have any questions at all or need assistance! DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 14:04, 7 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

  • I'll give this a gander.
General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems
Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation
Image: Image is freely licensed, used in the article, and clear at 100px.
QPQ: None required.

Overall: I'm happy to approve both Alt0 and Alt1 for this. Article recently passed GA and the hook is interesting. Per my recommendation, I would suggest wikilinking both the video game and the film but think that's a matter of preference so that's up to you. Good job otherwise! CaptainGalaxy 19:41, 5 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hello @CaptainGalaxy Thanks for the review and the help! I adjusted the hook/ALT a bit to highlight just the video game, since I think there might be a limit on wikilinks. I also reduced down the image description because it felt a little too long to me. Thanks again! AdobongPogi masarap 🍛 11:30, 12 September 2025 (UTC).Reply

Peer review

edit

I've listed this article for peer review because...this article recently got GA status, and I'm thinking of nominating it for FA class in the future. I'd like feedback on whether the article meets higher quality standards in terms of prose, comprehensiveness, sourcing, neutrality, and Manual of Style compliance before I move it to FAC. I would also appreciate comments on the balance between Raaphorst's biography, filmmaking career, style and influences and whether there are gaps in coverage or areas that need to be expanded, trimmed or copyedited. Any thoughts on how to improve the article to FA standards would be much appreciated.

FAC PR sidebar

edit

@AdobongPogi: I have added this aritcle to the Template:FAC peer review sidebar. Please consider reviewing other articles listed there. I also recommend asking for a FA mentor who can comment in this PR, and to review articles at FAC to build goodwill amongst FAC reviewers and gain a better understanding of the FA criteria.
