Put rank tables in 4 groups

The combined rank tables are confusing as they might suggest that an airman can go from the rank of lance corporal to eventually become a chief technician. Just because the RAF website only shows 2 separate tables does not mean it should be replicated here.

Table 1 non-technical groundcrew: Aircraftman - leading aircraftman - senior aircraftman - corporal - sergeant - flight sergeant - warrant officer.

Table 2 technical groundcrew: As table 1 plus - senior aircraftman technician - chief technician.

Table 3 RAF Regiment: As table 1 plus - lance corporal.

Table 4 aircrew: Sergeant aircrew - flight sergeant aircrew - master aircrew. (Maybe add aircrew cadet, if still in use.)

Adding the CAS warrant officer is optional for all tables.

Given the large number of tables on this page for all the changes to ranks over the history of the RAF, the current ones could at least be shown in these different tables. Just a suggestion, for clarity purposes. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.19.53.177 (talk) 05:51, 10 June 2021 (UTC)

Incorrect ranks displayed

Both on this page and the main page for the Royal Air Force, the table for other rank insignia shows Air Specialist (Class 1) Technician Air Specialist (Class 1) Air Specialist (Class 2), no such ranks exist in the RAF. The table should instead show Senior Aircraftman (Technician), Senior Aircraftman and Leading Aircraftman with their corresponding rank insignia respectively. 178.78.105.170 An internal briefing Notice (IBN) within the RAF stated that from the 1 July 2022, all ranks with the term Aircraftman were not gender neutral, and would be changed to Air Specialist and Variants thereof. The current change is too early, and frankly, uncited. The joy of all things (talk) 06:18, 15 June 2022 (UTC)

SAC(T) Rank

The SAC(T) rank was introduced well before the 2005 date currently cited. I joined in 2000 and achieved this rank in 2001-2002. I was on approximately the 16th Trade Training course which had this progression so I think it was introduced around 1998-1999 and probably first awarded in 2000. The cited 2005 change I suspect refers to when remaining SACs who signed up under the previous (JT) system could no longer be promoted to JT and instead started being sent on Assimilation training to be awarded SAC(T). I don't have references for this but can speak from personal experience. 185.13.50.211 (talk) 10:06, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
