Why remove the post credits scene?

edit

The existence of post-credit scenes is kinda important info in a movie. I know people who check Wikipedia just to see if they need to stay.

In this instance there is the added importance that it explains the monkey's undead presence in subsequent films. —Bertrc (talk), Bertrc (talk) 02:29, 24 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

D'oh! Also sorry for reverting. I am getting used to wiki app on iPhone. I did not see your edit comment and thought you had nit made one. I would have waited in this discussion if I had known there was an edit comment. -Bertrc (talk) 02:34, 24 July 2025 (UTC) Bertrc (talk) 02:34, 24 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
Per WP:FILMPLOT, we essentially shouldn't be including such scenes in the summary just because they're post-credit scenes, but based on their merits respective to the rest of the plot. I don't see how the post-credits scene in this instance would merit inclusion on any basis other than the fact of it being a post-credits scene. DonIago (talk) 02:55, 24 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
It is relevant for the subsequent movies. It explains the monkey's undead presence (wow, "undead presence " self completed after I typed "monkey". :-D ) Bertrc (talk) 03:22, 24 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
_And_ you film plot link says that post credit scenes should be included based on relevance. The monkey is a recurring plot device throughout the movie and subsequent movies (except maybe dead men tell no tales. I haven't watched that one yet). Bertrc (talk) 03:27, 24 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
I think it's very arguable whether discussing Jack (the monkey) is really essential to aiding a reader's understanding of the primary plot of the film. I'd note that he's not even mentioned in the summary otherwise. DonIago (talk) 04:37, 24 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
I guess I can see that, but, for me, it is more about understanding the later movies. The monkey is how they pay Tia Dalma in order to get to the afterlife (and the monkey's immortality made no sense without the earlier knowledge) --Bertrc (talk) 01:52, 28 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
I have doubts that we should be editing this film's plot summary to make it easier to understand another film. Typically we would just include a footnote where needed in the summary for the other film, e.g. "As depicted in...". DonIago (talk) 19:33, 28 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
