Pronunciation
editMy understanding is that locals in the community pronounce it 'pebbles' with a short e as in pet. The article specifically shows a pronunciation with a long ē. Since the community is named after a family who still exists in the area, there should be a 'correct' pronunciation. Any surviving Peebles who can chime in? I have myself heard locals say 'pebbles'. - This is also my experience, having lived in Fond Du Lac nearby for years. When I moved there I pronounced it as spelled and was quickly corrected by a local resident. ~2026-31955-29 (talk) 20:03, 28 May 2026 (UTC)
