In 'Notes' c, in the German text "Verpöhnt ist […] der Versuch, sich in Badekleidung […] unter die Nackten zu mischen", verpöhnt should be spelled verpönt. The translation of the same excerpt (Pampered is the attempt […] to mix in bathing clothes among the naked ones) -- I suggest "Trying to mix with naked bathers while dressed is frowned on." Thanks for that; II have updated to match. I changed "mix" to "mingle" as my (admittedly very limited) understanding of German makes that a slightly better fit. Feel free to change further. Jtrevor99 (talk) 04:27, 6 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

For the last sentence on the third paragraph, please remove the part “that provided alternatives to sexualization.” The sentence was not about sexualization and there are no sources to back this part up. ~2025-33290-12 (talk) 00:17, 14 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Not done: Here's the latter part of the relevant paragraph:
Although improper dress might be socially embarrassing, the association of nudity with sin regarding sexuality began with Judeo-Christian societies, spreading through Europe in the post-classical period. Traditional clothing in temperate regions worldwide also reflect concerns for maintaining social status and order, as well as by necessity due to the colder climate. However, societies such as Japan and Finland maintain traditions of communal nudity based upon the use of baths and saunas that provided alternatives to sexualization. (emphasis added)
This paragraph is partly about sexuality, so this makes sense to me in this context. You are free to continue to discuss this, but please do not re-open the template until consensus has formed from discussion. Thanks. Grayfell (talk) 01:28, 14 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

"In many European countries, women may sunbathe without covering their breasts" image

edit

I'm wondering why the face of the person on the "European beaches" image was blurred before inclusion? This blur was added to the photo it was sourced from. Given its context within the article and the other images, I hope I don't need to say more (but I can if needed), it leaves a very bad taste. — HermannusAlemannus (talk) 21:59, 14 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

You might get answers if you ask at the file's Talk page on Wikimedia Commons. Generally when something like this is done to a photo it's because it's unclear whether the person depicted would want to be identifiable in such an image. There is a link to the unpixellated original (on Flickr) from the file's Wikimedia information page. —VeryRarelyStable 06:41, 15 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

Please delete the photos of the children as it is sexualizing them ~2026-60867-9 (talk) 17:30, 28 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

Did you not read at the top of this page that Wikipedia is not censored? If you object to the images, you may delete them from the article yourself, or leave a message on the uploader's talk page. JHVipond (talk) 19:51, 28 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

"moving section"

edit

@WriterArtistDC What's the deal with this, , you didn't explain the removal and also you wrote "moving section" onto the article body, did you mean to write this in the edit summary? Chattenoir (talk) 14:17, 20 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, "moving section" was intended to be the edit summary,
I am in the process of moving In film to the Depictions section, although I don't think it is needed here at all there being another article about nudity in film. As I noted at the top of this article:
  • This article is about scientific and cultural information about human nudity. For nudity in the arts and other visual media, see Depictions of nudity.

I see, no prob. I felt that it was relevant to have a very short sub-section on In Film as it relates to western cultural perceptions of nudity (it becoming more acceptable to have nudity in film after initial controversy. Chattenoir (talk) 14:33, 20 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
I've reverted the move providing a pause while discussing the use of WP:summary style to keep complex topics from becoming too large. WriterArtistDC (talk) 14:35, 20 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Getting back to review the added section, decided it duplicates content n Nudity in film. WriterArtistDC (talk) 01:52, 27 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
