Old 2006 posts
editA merge notice was placed some time back, suggesting Church of Our Lady & St. David be merged into the article. I think this is a reasonable suggestion - if the town article were to grow too big, it would make more sense to create a sub-article about all the churches in Naas. However, I suspect the need for this is quite low unless we suddenly have an influx of editors from Naas.
Just checking here for dissention.

Pronunciation
editJust for confirmation, [nays] in this article means that that Naas rhymes with daze, with base, or with dice? QuartierLatin1968

NAAS rhymes with BASS (or 'base' if you want some disambiguation!)
Great, thanks for that! I've corrected the IPA. (The incorrect transcription [nays] would sound a bit like 'nice', only with a German ü sound thrown in there...) QuartierLatin1968

Not moved. Vegaswikian (talk) 01:14, 10 February 2010 (UTC) Naas → Naas, Ireland
- All queries for the term 'Naas' go straight to this article (a place name). However, since a new has emerged in the telecomms arena, variously known as NAAS, NaaS or Naas then I believe the appropriate first page should be the Nass disambiguation page. See Caas for similar example. User:Smcvarno 08:57, 3 February 2010 (UTC)
- Oppose: The Irish town is the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. Any disambiguation can be taken care of by parentheses in titles and at Naas (disambiguation). – ukexpat (talk) 03:49, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
- Oppose: Concur with ukexpat. An acronyn for new technology that's five minutes old does not trump the name of a town that has existed for hundreds of years. ww2censor (talk) 04:17, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
- Oppose - as per ww2censor, the name is hundreds of years old. Sorry 'bout that.Red Hurley (talk) 14:15, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
- Oppose As clear a case of WP:PRIMARYTOPIC as you are likely to come across. Especially as the acronym is not even the title of the page on Network as a service. Skinsmoke (talk) 18:07, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
- Oppose: This town is the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, and the other term, which is not even consistent in form, a new acronym of a longer term, which is the proper name of any article (and which can, in the unlikely event of need, be hatnote disambiguated). SeoR (talk) 21:05, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
- Note: There are 3 places called Naas: see Naas (disambiguation). Anthony Appleyard (talk) 06:11, 9 February 2010 (UTC)

Not a suburb
editIt's technically an exurb or commuter town. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 31.83.246.194 (talk) 07:23, 1 October 2016 (UTC)

– This Irish town does not appear to be the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. Searching "Naas" online and in Google Scholar leads to a myriad of varying results, very few of which concern the subject of this article. This article should thus be disambiguated. — EarthDude (Talk) 14:25, 7 July 2026 (UTC)
- Oppose Naas is a somewhat important and well-known (well-known in Ireland) Irish town, while all other entries are of very low importance and not that well known Froglord (Finnfrog99) (talk) 14:36, 7 July 2026 (UTC)
- Support makes it known what country it is in. there might be another place named naas in a different country. ~2026-38391-81 (talk) 14:55, 7 July 2026 (UTC)
- Oppose. As noted in the previous move discussion above (2010), the other common meanings (e.g. abbreviation for Network as a service, first name of former ZA rugby player Naas Botha, etc) are already disambiguated (by full/non-abbreviated IT term, rugby player's full name, etc). While I understand the point about Google Scholar, this is just one measure. And, frankly, seems to be skewed because "Naas" is a given/middle name of the authors of papers returned in a Google Scholar search (the same thing occurs in a Google Scholar search for "Jordan" or for "Ennis" or "Navan"). Looking at other metrics, a worldwide Google trends review suggests that a majority of general websearches relate to the town ("naas weather", "naas hospital", "naas news", "naas cinema", "naas [name of business/service]", etc). The WikiNav traffic view for "Naas" also suggests no material through-traffic to the DAB page or other pages (suggesting that most landing on this title are where they intended/expected to be). Same seems to be the case for Page Analysis tool. Guliolopez (talk) 15:59, 7 July 2026 (UTC)
- Weak oppose it is a county town so long-term significance probably favours the Irish town and appears to be primary per views[] for the single word. Also if moved it should be Naas, County Kildare per Wikipedia:Naming conventions (geographic names)#Ireland. Crouch, Swale (talk) 19:20, 7 July 2026 (UTC)
- Oppose, justified primary topic. 162 etc. (talk) 20:15, 7 July 2026 (UTC)
- Oppose. The page clearly has the most views of all topics of the same name, and more than their sum. FromCzech (talk) 09:55, 8 July 2026 (UTC)
- Oppose - Google Scholar is not the right starting point for this. In fact, excluding things such as the tech term NaaS, which are quite distinct, and personal (non-primary) name elements, Naas town is the leading item in general searches. So the complication of this change is not needed. And a disamb page can handle all secondary connections if needed. SeoR (talk) 11:54, 8 July 2026 (UTC)
