F-15A MSIP Picture
edit@Fnlayson sorry, I assumed I had somehow messed up the placement and edited before thinking to check the revision history. I would like to ask, is there any way to have it moved down a paragraph? As it is it's placed next to the section on F-15C MSIP II instead of the section containing F-15A MSIP, which I would argue is more relevant. Lee0072001 (talk) 02:50, 8 July 2025 (UTC)
- Move it down another paragraph or so if that puts it closer to relevant text. Images should be on separate lines unless they are part of the text such as symbol images. -Fnlayson (talk) 21:28, 1 February 2026 (UTC)
Reported F-15 Shootdown Kuwait 2026
editIf the F-15 was lost to friendly fire then shouldn't it be added in the Notable accidents section? Syed Ayan Ather (talk) 10:23, 2 March 2026 (UTC)
- Agreed and somebody moved it. It is still currently 0 losses in combat. ChuckDabs (talk) 17:32, 2 March 2026 (UTC)
- That concerns a F-15E and the incident was moved to McDonnell Douglas F-15E Strike Eagle#Operations against Iran (2026). This was a not an air to air combat event. -Fnlayson (talk) 18:30, 2 March 2026 (UTC)
- Yep, I totally get that. I removed my edit. ChuckDabs (talk) 18:32, 2 March 2026 (UTC)
- Also I requested temporary protection status and it was granted. ChuckDabs (talk) 14:23, 3 March 2026 (UTC)
- But it was an air-to-air combat event? Per WSJ:
A Kuwaiti F/A-18 fighter jet was the cause of the accidental shootdown of three American F-15s on Sunday, according to three people familiar with initial reports of the incident. One F/A-18 pilot launched three missiles against the U.S. aircraft, according to a U.S. official. All three U.S. aircraft went down, but their pilots ejected safely.
--benlisquareT•C•E 14:55, 4 March 2026 (UTC)- It has been added to McDonnell Douglas F-15E Strike Eagle article, the variant which was involved in the incident. Syed Ayan Ather (talk) 19:28, 4 March 2026 (UTC)
- it was not an air to air "combat" event no, because that would imply the F-15s were engaging in combat with the F-18 and that the incident was intentional, even if it was the general fighter aviation community doesnt count freindly fire towards losses or kills, rightfully so, for any aircraft. - Yep, I totally get that. I removed my edit. ChuckDabs (talk) 18:32, 2 March 2026 (UTC)
Qatar as F-15 operator
editWhy isn't Qatar Emiri Air Force in the operator section of this article and McDonnell Douglas F-15E Strike Eagle, I know there is a separate Article for the Operators of F-15 but it still should be added to these articles. Syed Ayan Ather (talk) 11:00, 3 March 2026 (UTC)
- Since this is about the F-15E, you should ask on the F-15E's talk page (Talk:McDonnell Douglas F-15E Strike Eagle) instead. -Fnlayson (talk) 15:22, 4 March 2026 (UTC)
- Noted, ty Syed Ayan Ather (talk) 19:29, 4 March 2026 (UTC)
Qatar f15 shootdown
editCould someone add information of the qatar f15 that shot down two Iranian su-24's on May 2nd? ~2026-14079-78 (talk) 21:35, 5 March 2026 (UTC)
- That was an F-15QA, should go under the F-15EX, as the QA variant is based on the F-15EX. FireLordAang (talk) 09:14, 10 March 2026 (UTC)
Opening section
editMight seem to some that it should be obvious and not need stating, but I note that the opening section of this article does not describe the aircraft as being a jet. This is one of the fundamental characteristics of the subject. ~2026-16898-98 (talk) 03:39, 25 March 2026 (UTC)
Iran War
editIt seems that the plane that was just shot down was a Strike Eagle, and so were the ones earlier this year in the friendly fire incident. Should they be on this page at all? Seems to me they should on be on the Strike Eagle page... Justdoingmybesttoedit (talk) 16:22, 4 April 2026 (UTC)
- The out of place F-15E content was removed. See McDonnell Douglas F-15E Strike Eagle article instead. -Fnlayson (talk) 00:34, 5 April 2026 (UTC)
Different Operators
editHello,
The F-15 page does not have different operational history sections (such as one for Israel, one for America, one for Saudi Arabia, etc) which would be beneficial in separating operator history in my view. I would like to modify the page to be so, and was wondering what others thought of it. Rajbarage (talk) 14:54, 13 April 2026 (UTC)
Excluding the 104-0 record claim
editI think WP:EXCEPTIONAL should be applied here. I cannot find multiple mainstream sources, or any reliable ones for that matter, that support the air-to-air combat record. Any figure released by world air forces (usaf, iaf) also couldn't be included per WP:SELFSOURCE where the material included would be an exceptional claim.
