Not done: it's not clear what changes you want made. Please detail the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. EnIRtpf09b (talk) 08:42, 20 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

c:Commons:Deletion_requests/Files_in_Category:Martin_Luther_King,_Jr._in_1964 there seems to be evidence that the image File:Martin_Luther_King,_Jr..jpg is not public domain. Even if it was, it is not a great photo, I suggest replacing it with this one which has better detail, expression and resolution. I replaced it but it was reverted 3 times with no reason.

Thanks, a talk page discussion rather than edit warring (EDIT: whoops, I wrote too soon. You've just reverted to your preferred image again along with past numerous times). The image you suggest seems too much of a strict expression for the subject, and there is nothing wrong with the long-term image already on the page. If it is up for Commons deletion it should be moved to English Wikipedia, and can someone more versed in creating image upload pages do that, thanks. Randy Kryn (talk) 14:57, 1 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
No, it should not be moved if it is deleted for being a copyright violation which if it isn't it should not be deleted from Commons at all. What do you mean "too much of a strict expression"? He sure didn't have an easy life and it isn't like he is smiling in the old one either. The old one is significantly lower quality and is cropped unevenly. No reasons for its use have been provided. 999REAL 💬 15:08, 1 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
I also disagree with the change to File:Martin Luther King, Jr. and Lyndon Johnson (cropped).jpg. Portrait shots/crops are common not just in Wikipedia infoboxes but in all sorts of formal settings and formats in real life. Even if the proposed file had a much higher resolution, both the old and new files would still be presented in the same size across most devices, so a difference in quality doesn't matter as long as both are clear.
I'm also not so sure a photograph of King reclined back and stressed out by his visit to the White House is a superior presentation to a headshot of him. Yue🌙 (talk) 05:29, 2 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
No, it is clear even at thumbnail size that File:Martin Luther King, Jr..jpg is lower quality with worse lighting and detail (look at his ears, eyes in particular). It is also not a straight headshot and is cropped unevenly. I also disagree with the idea it is one of the most famous photos of Dr. King, If you search it on Tineye there are less than 2,000 matches while File:Martin Luther King, Jr. and Lyndon Johnson (cropped).jpg has over 5,000.
I don't understand this idea that File:Martin Luther King, Jr. and Lyndon Johnson (cropped).jpg is "too serious". Dr. King was a serious person who went through serious hardships in his life. Anyway if you want a "less serious" and headshot I suggest using a crop of this photo published on the cover of Sepia magazine which is in color and he is smiling. This is a low quality scan but it was the only one I could find 999REAL 💬 12:42, 2 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
There's also File:The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Color Portrait (high quality).jpg, I think I actually prefer this 1. TansoShoshen (talk) 21:03, 2 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

change his date of birth that is next to his date of death to January 15 Ember 0n P4WZ (talk) 18:20, 9 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

That's already what it says, at least in the lead, the infobox and in the 'Birth' section. Which bit are you talking about? Girth Summit (blether) 19:10, 9 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
