"They acquired the work from James Lindsay, Lord Balcarres, 26th Earl of Crawford in Winter 1899, and two years later, it entered the Rylands collection through a purchase by Enriqueta Augustina Rylands, who bequeathed her collection to the John Rylands Library in 1908.[1]" This seems odd; if it was acquired by the John Rylands Library in 1901 from the Earl of Crawford it must have been part of the manuscript portion of the Bibliotheca Lindesiana which the Earl sold to Mrs. Rylands. It would not be part of the collection possessed by Mrs. Rylands when she died in 1908 which she bequeathed to the same library. Also "Lord Balcarres" should be 9th Earl of Balcarres (another earldom)Johnsoniensis (talk) 13:53, 14 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Remedied. It seems based upon the database that it was precisely transferred from private collection to Library by Enriqueta right around the time she died. Also I remedied the Lordship portion, same person addressed differently across the database. NeverBeGameOver (talk) 14:50, 14 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thank you very much; this is a very good article about a notable manuscript.--Johnsoniensis (talk) 19:12, 14 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
