Macon Transit AuthorityMacon-Bibb County Transit Authority – The current article title, Macon Transit Authority, appears to be inaccurate or outdated. The agency's formal name is Macon-Bibb County Transit Authority, which is already used in the article lead and infobox and is the name used by the agency's official website. The proposed title is more precise and better reflects the subject's official name. I have a professional connection to the agency, so I am requesting review by uninvolved editors rather than moving the page directly. See WP:COMMONNAME; we don't necessarily title articles at the topic's official or legal name, but the name most commonly used by reliable sources For example, Bill Clinton, not William Jefferson Clinton, his legal name, or William Jefferson Blythe(his legal name at birth). 331dot (talk) 14:52, 20 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
When did this name change take place? I'm a local resident and found out by reviewing your edits on the page from 3 days ago. The official website and logo are also brand new, I've not even seen them around town yet. Light-jet pilot (talk) 05:07, 22 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
The name change was/is a compliance issue with GDOT. We were instructed in 2024 that our legal name had to be Macon-Bibb County Transit Authority and they began enforcing the full legal name in 2025.
The new logo is across MBCTA's web presence. The website alias, www.mbcta.net points to the legacy web address, www.mta-mac.com to comply with the state compliance mandate.
Federal funding constraints have limited rewrapping the vehicles and bus stop signs with the new logo. All new buses, any rewraps and signage will have the new logo. R80o (talk) 18:54, 22 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
