Split the article in two?
editI was wondering-maybe we should split the article into 2 different ones. One for longevity and the other for deaths!
Elbridge Gerry?
editIs there no information about Gerry's cause of death? --Jerchel (talk) 17:21, 19 June 2014 (UTC)
adding information
editDrdpw I don't see why that line shouldn't be there as it's not any different than the lines before and after. AmYisroelChai (talk) 20:18, 28 November 2017 (UTC)
Agree with reference to the vacancy of vice president office.--Maher27777 (talk) 21:16, 28 November 2017 (UTC)- I restored the information, but moved it to the paragraph about pre-25th Amendment vacancies in the vice-presidency. Drdpw (talk) 22:18, 28 November 2017 (UTC)
median age
editthe median age upon accession is the middle vp or the 2 middle ones divided in two so 48 vps makes the 24th and 25th vp by age the median their age divided in two עם ישראל חי (talk) 19:18, 7 March 2018 (UTC)

When I finish modifying the 2nd table, I'll be interested to hear comments from pagewatchers. YBG (talk) 04:56, 17 January 2019 (UTC)
Well, it turns out it didn't make that much difference. I could gain a little more room by removing the numbers. But all in all, we can all breathe a sigh of relief that I didn't try this out in the article itself. YBG (talk) 05:25, 17 January 2019 (UTC)
JD Vance is not in right proportion in the last graphic
editIn the Chart: The following chart shows vice presidents by their age (living vice presidents in green), with the years of their vice presidency in blue. The vertical black line at 35 years indicates the minimum age to be vice president.
JD Vance presidency (in blue) starts to late, compared to his age 93.111.211.203 (talk) 07:15, 2 August 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for pointing out that something was wrong. I found that Vance's birthday was specified as February 8 (2/8) rather than August 2 (8/2) and I made the correction. Vance's vice presidency in the chart now shows (in blue) as beginning at his earlier age. —ADavidB 13:24, 2 August 2025 (UTC)
Arent there 7 VPs who were 40-44 at the start?
editThe graphic shows 6, but I think there were 7, since Vance became VP. Nixon, Vance, Quayle, Teddy, Tompkins, Gore & Calhoun the graphic i mean is: Bar graph depicting the age of vice presidents when assuming office 46.125.250.92 (talk) 17:30, 21 August 2025 (UTC)
- The bar graph hasn't been updated since Vance became VP. Assadzadeh (talk) 20:27, 21 August 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks to @SDudley the graph has now been updated. Assadzadeh (talk) 21:01, 3 November 2025 (UTC)
Is it possible or worth it to add the president timespan to those VPs who became president too?
editas example in the graphic The following chart shows vice presidents by their age (living vice presidents in green), with the years of their vice presidency in blue. maybe the president timespan could be added in a different color.
because e.g. at Joe Bidens line it looks like he did nothing afer his vice presidency but he became president later on
A Suggestion, maybe think about that212.95.5.148 (talk) 02:57, 2 September 2025 (UTC)
- There is a different article for presidents, which has a similar graph. Trying to combine vice presidency and presidency in one graph, and only for vice presidents that later became president (even in a different color), will only complicate the graph and confuse its purpose. Assadzadeh (talk) 03:24, 2 September 2025 (UTC)
- No other service to the country or political offices held, either before or after the vice presidency, is pertinent to the subject of this article. That is why the graph highlights only the person's time as vice president. Drdpw (talk) 03:32, 2 September 2025 (UTC)
Is Quayle's Age correct
editIt says his age is as of Jan 22th 26 --> 78 Years & 352 days. But on Inuguration day (Jan 20th) at start/end of his VP tenure his age is always XY Years & 351 days. So 2 days after Inauguration Day shouldnt his age be 78 Years and 353 days? 2 days more than on January 20th. With other VPs their age is always XY years and 2 days more than they age on inauguration day ~2025-31545-84 (talk) 16:12, 22 January 2026 (UTC)
- I see what you're saying, but I looked at the wikicode and it's correct. Assadzadeh (talk) 20:47, 22 January 2026 (UTC)
- Of all the living vice presidents, Quayle is the only one whose birthday is earlier in the year than February 29 – what would be a leap day in years that have them. Might this be why the {{ayd}} template gives his age as one day less (beyond years) since his inauguration day than the other vice presidents since theirs? I ran {{ayd|1941|1|30}}, which gives Cheney's age if he were still living, and encountered the same situation as for Quayle. Cheney had a January birthday. —ADavidB 04:39, 23 January 2026 (UTC)
- yea I came to that conclusion also yesterday. guess if the VP has a birthday between Jan 21 to Feb 28 it is different because election years are in leap years ~2025-31545-84 (talk) 07:15, 23 January 2026 (UTC)
