Proposed merger of Shran

Although this article is lengthy, it isn't compliant with guidelines in the fact that it is purely in-universe plot details of the character, with no out-of-universe info. I propose it be slimmed down to like articles, as he was only in a handful of episodes just like Soval for instance, and the end result merged here. Ejfetters (talk) 04:57, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

Shran was far more important than Soval to multiple plot lines. Jeffrey Combs was a guest star in the Shran episodes, not just a guest appearance. However, you're right, it's not a good article as it stands... - Fayenatic (talk) 12:04, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

Contestation of page move

@Ophyrius I would like to request that the above move request, § Requested move 28 September 2025, be reopened, as I have two objections to the move I would like considered:

1. The new article title is a bit harder to parse correctly, as the conventional use of the colon in English thus makes the title confusing to read
2. There are 30 articles which redirect to the old article title (with 234 links to those redirects on 106 different articles) which are now double redirects & will need to be fixed, as well as 25 articles linking to the old article title that should probably be updated too.

I hope this is a "reasonable time frame", and I don't mean to be annoying, just thought it should be considered; sincerely,

Can you elaborate on your concerns please? As noted, the new title is consistent with other articles (e.g. List of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine characters), so I'm not clear on how it's harder to parse correctly, and it sounds like your second concern is just that the page move requires some clean up? I'm not sure I'm able to better explain why I find a colon in the middle of a phrase to be harder to parse, at least not succinctly. But it is looking easier on my eyes today, and as old as 'List of (recurring) Star Trek: Deep Space Nine characters' is, then I guess it's probably not a real problem in the real world. I have to admit that I initially started writing the contention out of annoyance that, in my eyes, redirects seemingly hadn't been taken into account, but 30 redirects to update isn't actually too bad. I just can't (or rather, won't) update them myself, since as an IP editor I don't have access to any bulk editing tools (at least, none that I am aware of).

Therefore, I humbly & somewhat sheepishly retract my contention/contestation/whatever-you-call-this. Apologies, 99.146.242.37 (talk) 06:24, 7 October 2025 (UTC)
