Bulgarian Orthography

edit

Why should the article have a romanized Bulgarian orthography name? This child was most likely named in Turkish, which had already adopted the orthography that gives "Türkan Feyzullah" by the time of her birth. The romanization of the Bulgarian orthographic equivalent of the name would not be authentic to this individual, and it's unlikely a name with ULLAH or ULA (this is ultimately a reference to the Islamic God) would have been acceptable to BCP authorities at the time anyway if her parents ever signed some sort of official renaming document. If they did, I think there might be some argument to be made to use that name if it was used in sources. The sources I can find in latin-script use the Turkish form even if they are not in Turkish and machine translation software often identifies the cyrillic form as being used to represent Turkish and inserts the Turkish spelling. I requested the article be changed to the standard Turkish scheme which can be rendered in wikipedia. The romanized Bulgarian form is now a redirect. Pietrus1 (talk) 03:22, 19 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
