The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: Pages moved as specified. No opposes to the primary topic assertion. As for the possible request to delete the disambiguation page, I can't see a rationale for that and it would probably be better served at WP:AfD anyway. This is not a WP:TWODABS situation. – Fairly clear primary topic, based on page views: 7791 in last thirty days for the comedian compared to 47 for the (retired) footballer. Jmorrison230582 (talk) 21:20, 26 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

  • I had previously prodded Joe Wilkinson on this basis but Boleyn declined it stating that this was the correct procedure:
Support move from Joe Wilkinson (comedian) to Joe Wilkinson per WP:PRIMARYTOPIC.
Oppose move from Joe Wilkinson to Joe Wilkinson (disambiguation) per WP:DISAMBIGUATION, will change view iff an article is written on Joe Wilkinson (politician)..--Launchballer 21:42, 26 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

In 8 Out Of Ten Cats Does Countdown S15E03 2 February 2018, it's stated that Joe Wilkinson supported Alan Carr once in Peterbrough and that Alan Carr has no idea who he is or that he had supported him. So having his lead paragraph saying that he's supported Alan Carr is technically true but hardly that important.  Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.75.42.207 (talk) 22:45, 25 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Add to "Other Work" section:

In 2024, Wilkinson appeared on Joe and Katherne's Bargain Holidays show and he demonstrated what he thought was a new invention called "The Mousie." Which resembles a regular selfie, but placed on the ground to present the perspective of a mouse. Athanatic (talk) 00:44, 26 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Add to TV - Joe and Katherine's Bargain Holidays (2024-) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt32229537/

Add to Career - Television - Joe and Katherine's Bargain Holidays (2024-) - Per Season 1, Episode 1 - Joe Wilkinson invents a new type of social media photography known as a Mousie. By placing a mobile camera on the ground with a timer set, the photo is taken from the point of view of a mouse. This phenomenon is gaining global traction with fans of the comedian with Joe claiming he will be famous for his social media invention and it being the highlight of his Wikipedia page. Joe and Katherine's Bargain Holidays

edit

Looking through the edit requests, I see an adamant refusal to accept that Joe stars in the television show "Joe and Katherine's Bargain Holidays." I understand the request for a reference. How about the show on television itself? 75.136.148.8 (talk) 14:19, 17 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Add to section subtitled ‘Other Work’, “he created a new form of taking selfies that he has coined ‘the Mousey’ in which the phone is propped up by an item on the floor and the photo is taken of the person standing over it” [1] Elastigomoromoboba (talk) 10:21, 2 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

The Birth Date

edit

The birth data has been flip-flopping between 2 May 1975 and 11 Feb 1975 for a while now. Here are the non WP:UGC sources I can find:

2 May:

  • KentLive[1], which seems to pass WP:RS with named editors and retraction policies

11 February:

  • Companies House[2]: if one digs deeper there is a file containing the exact date 11 February[3], but Companies House also says "Companies House does not check the accuracy of the information filed" on their webpage
  • Comedy In Your Eye[4] with no named contributors

I'm leaning towards 2 May, but more opinions are definitely welcome.

LkL-70547 (talk) 01:11, 25 April 2026 (UTC) LkL-70547 (talk) 01:11, 25 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

I'm also leaning towards the 2 May 1975 date supported by KentLive, since that source seems to be more reliable and verifiable. But I think the Companies House source in particular has some merit, mainly in being a government website where accuracy is expected, even if verifiability is more difficult. I'm torn between the two, even after examining them and reading through WP:CONFLICTING, WP:V, and this essay on inaccuracy.
Perhaps a potential solution would be to display both dates, for example (2 May 1975, o.s. 11 February 1975), where o.s. means 'other sources' and with each respective supporting source placed with the appropriate date. Then a note via tooltip/hover text could be placed after the last bracket to explain the two dates are the result of conflicting source information. Another potential model for a solution could be from the Vanessa Kirby article, where there's conflicting source information about her birth year, so both reported years are displayed with a note via hover text.
I'd support something like these potential options until more solid sources become available to point towards one date or another.
Certainly open to more input! Pikkupapupata 💌 🌷 03:29, 25 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
WP:CONFLICTING is an interesting read, in particular the part on Omit unimportant details. How about we just say born 1975? Is the birth month of a comedian really that important? LkL-70547 (talk) 03:36, 25 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Also a potential solution! I was trying to think of ways to balance keeping the dates in, lessening the potential for back-and-forth editing, conforming to so many BLP articles that include birthdates, and relevant Wikipedia guidelines. But I'm certainly not opposed to simplifying the information to the one detail the sources actually agree on! Pikkupapupata 💌 🌷 03:42, 25 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
We cannot use Companies House as a source for a DOB, from WP:BLPPRIMARY: Do not use public records that include personal details, such as date of birth ..., emphasis not mine. fifteen thousand two hundred twenty four (talk) 04:37, 25 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Ah! Well, that's certainly very clear. Thank you! Pikkupapupata 💌 🌷 04:47, 25 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
