Thitkul is notable
editPer WP:NGOLF criteria #3 and #5. She has won a professional tournament and made the cut at a Women's Major Championship. The article needs to be worked on but should be accepted....William, is the complaint department really on the roof? 22:02, 30 May 2018 (UTC)
- I agree. AfC should check drafts for meeting the minimum requirements, not perfection. If the subject is shown to be notable and the draft is free of BLP issues, it should be accepted (and tagged for further cleanup as necessary). --Paul_012 (talk) 04:29, 31 May 2018 (UTC)
LPGA Career Summary
editZefr, Thitikul has played in many LPGA events from 2017 to 2019 when she was an amatuer and in 2021 when she was LET member. Her record can be reached from https://www.lpga.com/players/atthaya-thitikul/99069/stats and https://www.lpga.com/players/atthaya-thitikul/99069/results, which give record from 2017 to present. Other LPGA players has their record shown when she played in the LPGA event while was non-member like Lydia Ko or Anna Nordqvist. So, I think Thitikul's record from 2017 to 2021 should be shown on the table--St45nna (talk) 10:40, 2 February 2022 (UTC)
- Those 2022 LPGA links are only for her activity as a new LPGA member this year. There is inconsistency among the top 10-ranked women about whether the LPGA Tour career summary table includes events while an amateur. I'm of the opinion that LPGA Tour career means when that person was a professional, with stats and results recorded and posted for the LPGA member on the LPGA website, especially for money earned and stats that can be compared among professional peers. Previous participation in an LPGA tournament or any other professional event as an amateur can be discussed under Amateur career. Opinions requested from Tewapack and MondayMonday1966 concerning this table edit. Zefr (talk) 16:46, 2 February 2022 (UTC)
- My recommendation is to restore the 2017-2021 years and add a note that she was not a member during those years. Those results are referenced on her LPGA page under results. Tewapack (talk) 19:35, 2 February 2022 (UTC)
- Restored. Zefr (talk) 17:08, 3 February 2022 (UTC)

Qualification for Chevron Championship
editIsn't it clear from this https://www.lpga.com/tournaments/chevron-championship/tournament-entries that she was already qualified before her recent win. Contains category "Top-5 Majors Previous Year". Also https://www.jtbcclassic.com/news/lpga-rookie-atthaya-thitikul-already-making-presence-known from March 23 "especially as she prepares to take on the season’s first major next week at the Chevron Championship" and the following quote imply she was already in the field. Excessive discussion of 2024 CME win
editTransgenderoriole - the current version (beginning with this diff) describing the tournament rounds shot-by-shot is way over the top for an encyclopedia, which is why I labeled it WP:NOTGUIDE. It is written like a magazine or newspaper article with excessive detail (WP:NOTNEWS) far above descriptions for tournament wins by other elite players like Nelly Korda or Ruoning Yin.
Also, your public.boxcloud sources cause a needless mess of hundreds of characters for reference formatting.
Tewapack - how do you feel about this? Zefr (talk) 17:37, 12 December 2024 (UTC)
- Excessive detail. Should be trimmed to 3 or 4 sentences. Tewapack (talk) 20:29, 12 December 2024 (UTC)
- i apologise for finding sources from the lpga with shit urls, unfortunately im not their webmaster i just cite things. i personally find the approach of 'this extremely notable and significant achievement in golf should be treated and covered in as much detail as every wikipedia article on womens golf is, despite it obviously being a low priority and neglected topic, just a bit boring and ends up with some of the more nonsense justifications. In addition, you're going to have to take me through how an encyclopaedia can cover yearly men's golfing events in similar detail, let alone sports like football, but a 350 word section on a tournament which i have already trimmed and would be happy to continue doing unless you must have lpga pages be a mix of barren and very loose and out of date coverage and must be the one to do criticism in the least productive and with the loosest WP: mentions (i mean come on wp is not an indiscriminate collection of info is right there!!) then by all means please revert to the much more suitable state of the article which leads with a direct mention of the single season money record being raised quite substantially but yet doesnt find the one largest contributor to that success, and the athlete's only actual indivudal win of the year worthy of more than a cursory completely uninformative one liner then do as you like i shall head to other editing pastures. I'd point to something like the detail on the page of something like the 2018 Open championship or similar contemporary tournament with a large pool, but to justify basic content which i am willing to further de editorialise and trim to someone who did not even leave a talk page message when its clear that my edits are good faith is not worth my time even as a somewhat overzealous browser of wikipedia.
- Much love

- Glad you agree. Thanks. Revision per WP:BLPBALANCE. Zefr (talk) 03:32, 13 December 2024 (UTC)
Rename to Jeeno Thitikul?
editAny objections to renaming the article to Jeeno Thitikul? Given the usage of "Jeeno" in any recent source cited, over the past year, I think that name is a more common search term than "Atthaya". Unless there's anything else such as a policy I may not be aware of that indicates otherwise? Bambifan111 (talk) 00:30, 16 September 2025 (UTC)
- I've wondered about whether her name is officially changed (such as on a passport or driver's license) or (I suspect this is correct) she wanted to be called "Jeeno" because it was easier to pronounce among English-speaking media and was readily accepted by the LPGA, as discussed in many reports, like this one.
- According to MOS:NICKNAME, the article and her two names are acceptable in bold as they are, and a search for Jeeno redirects to this article. The nickname, Jeeno, could be the article name similar to Tina Fey and Magic Johnson, as examples. Zefr (talk) 03:49, 16 September 2025 (UTC)
