Use lowercase page title?
editConsidering how the person relevant to the article brands themselves in all lowercase (e.g. girl in red), it might be appropriate to invoke {{DISPLAYTITLE:girl in red}} to make the title lowercase, and use lowercase spelling whereever appplicable. Casspedia (talk) 21:44, 28 June 2021 (UTC)
I agree. Anyone opposed to this? --101.98.135.42 (talk) 06:49, 26 September 2021 (UTC)
Not possible, DISPLAYTITLE can't change capitalization. The page would need to be moved. // Maddy ♥︎(they/she)♥︎ :: talk 14:12, 27 May 2022 (UTC)- I could move the page. However, from what I can see, both the subject and WP:IS capitalize inconsistently – sometimes as "Girl in Red", sometimes "girl in red". ;; Maddy ♥︎(they/she)♥︎ :: talk 11:54, 29 May 2022 (UTC)

Girl in Red → girl in red – (And also add {{Lowercase title}} to the article.) Pseudonym consistently stylized in lowercase. Rose Abrams (T C L) 08:36, 27 January 2026 (UTC) — Relisting. TarnishedPathtalk 05:04, 4 February 2026 (UTC)
- Opposed: A substantial number of the cited sources use "Girl in Red", and MOS:TM says to prefer conventional English formatting for proper names. Here's a sampling of uses of "Girl in Red" in article bodies from the first 70 citations used in the article: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , . This clearly does not meet the "overwhelming majority" criterion of MOS:BIOEXCEPT, especially when focusing on independent reliable sources (as contrasted with directly affiliated ones). — BarrelProof (talk) 02:44, 29 January 2026 (UTC)
- Ngrams show a strong predominance for "girl in red" , with only the lowercase form increasing following her debut. Katzrockso (talk) 03:49, 31 January 2026 (UTC)
- Strong Support I'm seeing about 50/50 split between the capitalising and not, but I think we should default to the name that official sources use. This is ultimately an issue of formatting as the titles are identical apart from capitalisation. –DMartin (talk) 06:20, 31 January 2026 (UTC)
- Also, not to moralise, but I think reffering to someone by the name they want to be called is just the right thing to do. –DMartin (talk) 06:21, 31 January 2026 (UTC)
- Also, not to moralise, but Wikipedia's value is to serve the public as an independent source of information by following independent reliable sources, rather than to just do whatever the branding campaigns of the topics it discusses want it to do. If we don't want to be independent, we could just redirect the article to the Sony Music Entertainment website that advertises the artist. — BarrelProof (talk) 22:26, 2 February 2026 (UTC)

- Oppose per BarrelProof and MOS:TM. Wikipedia generally avoids novel capitalisations unless they're so ubiquitous that the regular style is almost never found, something not the case here per BarrelProof's examples above. — Amakuru (talk) 11:04, 3 February 2026 (UTC)

- Oppose. A "50/50 split" in sources is not enough to justify this move. 162 etc. (talk) 17:22, 4 February 2026 (UTC)
- Oppose per MOS:TM; there is not a strong case for making an exception to our usual practice, from what I'm seeing here. Paul Erik (talk)(contribs) 02:44, 5 February 2026 (UTC)
- Oppose Per MOS:TM, which specifies capitalization in these instances of stylization. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 06:35, 5 February 2026 (UTC)
