Wrong Single Release Date

The infobox says that Welcome to the Black Parade, the first single off of The Black Parade was released in 2005, but it was just released today in the U.S. Just wanted to inform people of this. --DevilSavior 22:56, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

I've just heard this song on the radio. Does this mean that it has been released as a single? I'm in New Zealand and it was on the ZM radio station 19:55, 1 December 2006 (NZ time)

No, it has not. The only release date provided is January 22, 2007 at billboard.com, it was also played before I think The Black Parade came out on the radio in UK. The video has now been released, in the US at least. So now, it is confirmed as the single. They use a radio edit of the song in the video though, during the second chorus, it cuts out the repeat, and the "I see you lying next to me" part is only 3x instead of 4x, and the final repeat of the chorus is cut out; instead of the instruments fading out in the album version with only organ, it ends with a guitar strum. The bridge is cut out, and the last chorus, is that correct? Also, the guitar does fade out, but in the album version, it doesnt really fade out, its more of a halt, which has a very faint organ as well, I also think I heard Gerard's yelling on the very last "or dead" but it is sung out of tune in the edited version. The bridge is the "I see you lying next to me, with words I thought I'd never speak, awake and unafraid, asleep or dead" verse. It would be wrong to say the bridge is cut out, because it is sung four times in the album version, and in the edited version it is only sung three times, so one repeat was cut out. The last chorus was cut out, as well as one in the middle. After the second verse, the chorus is repeated twice, before the guitar solo and bridge, but in the edit, it is only sung once. Patient Lives

If you go by the music video then it looks like he lives. The Black Parade was completely destroyed and it didn't look like they took him away since he wasn't in it.

actually I'd say the indication is the opposite. If we are to take some form of continuity between the two videos, then it appears that the black parade have brought him into death, symbolised by the barren wreckage-laden wasteland. At the end of the first video he has to make his way on now in this new part of his journey, he continues walking off alone. Now with their job done, in the video for Famous Last Words, the black parade cease to exist, still taking the narratorial view via the lyrics, as their "transit" world collapses and burns around them.

and the destruction of the parade also could support the idea that he dies. Couple of comments

First off, the line about being on iTunes I feel should be removed. Yes, it's available on iTunes, but last time I checked it was only available on the Black Parade album and not as an individual single. So yeah it's available on iTunes but if we're going to mention it for this song we should mention it for every song off the album as they're all available on iTunes. Secondly, the different single versions, the first one is a CD single and the second one is a record according to the sources. The Interpunk website lists two different 7 inch record versions, one is already listed and the other is identical to the CD single listed. I've found what appears to be the Australian version of the CD single which includes FLW plus the two B-sides. This has no place here. It is crudely written, is clearly original research, and there is no need to put words in CAPS. It just makes wikipedia look shoddy and and gives an unproffessional edge to it. Moreover, most, if not all of the points could be argued against very convincingly. This needs proper citations pronto or it should be deleted.

This is just one readers own opinion. I feel that the meaning behind the MCR song, famous last words is a suicide note, from a lover, or a past lover shall we say. The name gives hints of this, "famous LAST words". there is a bunch of other litle sniplets in the song that could back up my opinion on this, the main one being, "as I lay here, with words I fort id never read", He could be lieing next to his wife, who has taken her life, and left her husband a suicide leter, of which he never expected to ever read. as I said at the begining, this is just my opinion, have an open mind, think carefuly, and read between the lines.

Good someone agrees with me. I laughed so hard when I read this. It's like, somewhere, I read the lyrics to Cancer, and they got every word wrong. How do you get every word wrong, when the majority of the song is just Gerard and a piano. I didn't stop laughing for weeks. I also have to add that, you have the complete opposite of the song meaning. The true meaning, as Gerard has told many times, is that He WANTS to live, it isnt a suicide note. hence the lyrics "I am not afraid to keep on living/I am not afraid to walk this world alone"He wants to live, and it is the Patient. In Welcome To The Black Parade, he dies, or at least he thinks he dies. As Gerard said, at first he thought he did. But the more he though about it, he didnt, and he had the willpower, and the choice to either live or die. In Famous Last Words, he decides, he isn't going to stop fighting. Mask Scenes

How many scenes are there with Gerard wearing the mask? I've found three, one right at the beginning of the second chorus during Iero's part (right before they start singing again ("Can you see?"), one during Toro's solo right before they start singing again ("These bright lights have always blinded me"), and one during the bridge when the guitars kick in.
