Enlistment Year

edit

As of now, it says he enlisted in 2005. However, his service stripes are indicative of 30 years, making it around 1995/1996. Birth year possibly around 1977, if he enlisted at 18

Warrant officers do not wear service stripes. He has ten Overseas Service Bars indicating five years in combat zones. ~Darth StabroTalk  Contribs 13:49, 26 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
His service stripes are on his arm, it's a military uniform requirement. Navarchy (talk) 14:31, 6 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
As I stated, Warrant Officers (per AR 670-1 2128 Enlisted personnel are authorized to wear service stripes as members of the RA, ARNG, and USAR ... for each 3 years of honorable active Federal service) do not wear service stripes. What is on his arm are Overseas Service Bars. It is also unclear why the military would lie to AP about his enlistment date. ~Darth StabroTalk  Contribs 14:51, 6 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

DSC

edit

Why is his DSC not listed. It is clearly shown in the picture. Was the DSC upgraded to MOH? Karagory (talk) 04:19, 27 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

Inclusion of information about holy water

edit

~2025-39593-96 and ~2026-13198-51 (possibly the same person, based on their edit summaries) have repeatedly removed the statement that His wife, Amy, blessed his dog tags with holy water before the mission as "propaganda". This has been reported on in several reliable, albeit religious, sources: . I find its inclusion to give important context about the Slover's possible religiosity, especially important as there isn't much information about him out there at all. I find the repeated accusation of propaganda ridiculous and unfounded.

If I am not seeing this with clear eyes, let's establish consensus about its inclusion. But we're currently at D in WP:BRD, and it should not be removed without clear consensus for as much. ~Darth StabroTalk  Contribs 12:35, 5 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Full name

edit

His full name is Eric A. Slover, per the MoH citation. Why isn't this part of his name in the lede? Roast (talk) 21:07, 14 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Guerreroast: at the time of the article's creation, the MOH citation had yet to be published. I don't see any reason why it couldn't be added now, go for it. ~Darth StabroTalk  Contribs 03:07, 15 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
