Change Mahsa to Jina. Her real kurdish name was Jîna Aminî, while Mahsa was forced on her by the Islamic Republic. I think it would be better to use Jina for the title and Mahsa for any "also known as". https://time.com/6236067/mahsa-amini-jina-iran-kurdish-identity/ ~2026-13353-41 (talk) 11:36, 1 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Not done. She is widely known as Mahsa Amini, and named in that way in almost all articles about her or about the protests, and not as Jîna Aminî. Friendly, Lova Falk (talk) 15:15, 6 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
I recognize that Wikipedia generally defers to global media usage for article titles. However, given the human rights context regarding her forced legal name, I suggest we consider a more nuanced title. Using Zhina (Mahsa) Amini or Mahsa (Zhina) Amini would accurately reflect her true identity and respect her family's wishes, while still fulfilling the need for public recognizability. Edit requests are for edits that are uncontroversial. This one is not. If you wish to change the title of this article, you'll need to do a move proposal, to reach consensus. Friendly, Lova Falk (talk) 11:22, 12 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
