Italian noble titles
editI heard once that the following process was formerly common in Italy (until Italian courts disclaimed jurisdiction). A claimant to a title such as "Count of Thingummy" would sue a friend for slanderously denying the claim. In court, the friend would say, whups, my mistake, he is the rightful Count of Thingummy. Thereafter, the count would say that his title had been certified in court of law. —Tamfang (talk) 04:29, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
