should we add the box about him being in a current event since he's probably going to die? ~2026-13674-61 (talk) 17:06, 19 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

I don't think it is necessary anymore as this is now past. What would still be interesting to know is the cause of death - what caused the emergency? If I counted correctly then this all started on the 10th of march; and on the 20th march was the last day. This meant that the situation on 10th march was most likely the one that caused the outcome at 20th. I would have thought a heart attack would be likely, but would one stay alive for ten days in such a situation? Was it an injury after a fall or something like that? ~2026-14804-91 (talk) 14:46, 20 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Not really worth speculating until there’s a statement with more details, but yes a heart attack even weeks prior could technically cause it. They aren’t a one and done, they cause lasting damage that can prove more slowly fatal. Roger44477 (talk) 14:59, 20 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
I know that articles have a "this person has died recently and the article may change rapidly as news comes out," or something like that. Since he died just recently, maybe that info box thingy would be useful? Lemur3215 (talk) 15:28, 21 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Lemur3215, we still don't know much about the circumstances surrounding Norris' death, and it potentially could take weeks before his surviving family members publicly reveal more information. Infoboxes also generally forgo listing a cause of death, unless a subject's demise is a key part of their notability/legacy, which isn't the case for most celebrities. Infobox picture should be changed

edit

I'm confident there's a better free image; this one is extremely grainy looking and shows him in his senior years. OmegaAOLtalk? 14:26, 20 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

I suppose WP:GOTFRYD would apply here. ―Howard🌽33 14:57, 20 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
I think these are the best four images of him currently, would like to hear everyone's thoughts:
Howard🌽33 15:05, 20 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Per WP:GOTFRYD I think anything from the 80s or 90s would work, because that was pretty obviously the height of his career. Patriot of Canuckistan (talk) 15:38, 20 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
So option B? I'm leaning towards that as well. ―Howard🌽33 15:50, 20 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
B definitely does scream "Chuck Norris" to me. Patriot of Canuckistan (talk) 16:00, 20 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Option B It’s definitely the most Chuck Norris-y as well as a solidly clear image.KagedCroc1 ⭐️ 16:56, 20 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Option B is the pick for me personally, i think it beats the other photos quite well and reminds me of what he is. Benike18 (talk) 19:48, 20 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Option C — As much as I agree with everyone else that B is the most quintessentially "Chuck Norris" of the bunch, C is the highest quality and features the best closeup. Plus, I think the military attire suits Chuck pretty well on its own. Giovanni Potage (talk) 22:53, 20 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Option B has my vote Shawtybaespade (talk) 23:36, 26 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
1986 eats all the other options, similiar to the Ace Ferhley case, it feels like this is the photo destined to be his infobox image. Prodioctive (talk) 18:08, 20 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Option D (the current one) stands head and shoulders above all the others. Friendly face. PeachyBum07 (talk) 23:13, 20 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

He was discharged from the Air Force in August 1962 with the rank of airman first class (Senior Airman in today's Air Force rank structure). ~2026-17753-95 (talk) 19:05, 20 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

I have referenced an official government news article covering his career which states that "He continued to serve as an air policeman until his discharge from service in August 1962 at the rank of airman first class". OberstFischer1945 (talk) 01:46, 21 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Father a veteran?

edit

Norris Jr. was born in 1940. His father could not have been a WW2 veteran when Chuck was born as the US didn't enter WW2 until December 1941. I'm not sure how to change the wording or even if his dad's later service is even relevant. The Gruffalo (talk) 18:28, 22 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Where is his kickboxing record?

edit

I remember seeing his kickboxing record on this page years ago, why is it missing now? ~2026-18418-61 (talk) 15:44, 24 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

These sentences barely make sense

edit

Under "Early roles and breakthrough (1972–1978)": "It was noticed that it was an older, low-budget film announcing Norris as the lead. The film played as a double-bill to other action and genre film. It was described as a low-budget martial arts actioner taking advantage of Norris's fame.[29][30][31]" I'd fix myself but I'm unable to discern the precise meaning intended, nor do I have access to the cited sources to check. --Annihilannic (talk) 21:46, 25 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

It was added in 2019 by Filmman3000 in this and this edit. I could not make sense of these either. Remove, if not fixed. Jay 💬 05:59, 26 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Reactions to his death

edit

Do you think its worth adding to the entry how several well known celebrities and politicians reacted to his death? I found these two sources, among others, they include politicians, like former U.S. President George W. Bush, and fellow actors, like Sylvester Stallone: Mistico Dois (talk) 22:49, 27 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Is Chuck Norris really Cherokee? The reason I ask is because the Cherokee nation accepts anyone with documented Cherokee ancestry as a tribal member.

If he really is Cherokee won’t he be a tribal member? CycoMa2 (talk) 23:01, 20 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

I am sorry if this comes off as disrespectful it’s just I don’t like the idea of people falsely claiming ethnic identity like this. CycoMa2 (talk) 23:03, 20 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Look all I am asking is for a bit more context here. CycoMa2 (talk) 14:08, 21 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
It's unlikely to be notable in any case. Of all the thousands (millions?) of words published on Chuck Norris, how many of them mention this? We don't need to publish everything said about a person. If it's notable, and it's verifiable, then there would be multiple high quality sources saying it.
As people don't generally publish their tribal membership details, just like they wouldn't publish their passport, it's going to be one of those things that we can't really prove or disprove without doing a lot of original research. Lewisguile (talk) 20:09, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
