Allow me to opine that there is certainly a place for whoever wrote this to publish it, but not here and not in this form. It makes claims for a "scene" that would not be recognized as a definable movement
by most historical, and possibly even contemporary, observers, and does not warrant an essay that quotes only reviews. I'd be happy to be proved wrong. Actio (talk) 01:33, 9 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

heavily defensive of the modern brooklyn gentrifier

edit

it is so heavily biased and defensive of the migration to Brooklyn that I’m sure the writers have brightly colored mullets and septum rings. (as a new yorker i’m not even playin) it’s so much easier to just accept that some things are shaded grey and that you have played a part in it. this is embarrassing. ~2026-11606-55 (talk) 17:51, 21 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

Original research

I've tagged the article as having original research. There are multiple major problems here, but WP:OR seems like the simplest place to start.

How many of this article's sources use the term "immersionist" at all?

Large swathes of the article do not appear to be directly connect to the topic. For example, what does the section on The misuse of “gentrification" have to do with the Brooklyn Immersionists? Which reliable source says that Tony Millionaire has been part of this scene, and why isn't that source being cited at the Tony Millionaire article? Where is any of this coming from?

The entire article is like this.

It also looks like almost every paragraph contains WP:WEASEL and WP:PEACOCK words, and other forms of emotive editorializing. WP:NOTESSAY applies here, but this is also part of WP:NOR policy. Grayfell (talk) 01:50, 17 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Shipsmasthub: As I mentioned last month, the article is a mess. It's still a non-nuetral mess. Please fix the problems you've created or at least discuss here before removing the template a second time. Grayfell (talk) 03:47, 13 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
There are many problems I could point to, but for WP:OR specifically, as an example for illustrative purposes, what does this source in the lead have to say about the "Brooklyn Immersionists"? It's also used for a sentence about gentrification, but the source doesn't directly discuss that, and certainly doesn't connect gentrification to the topic of the Brooklyn Immersionists. This is a clear indication of WP:OR. This kind of thing isn't appropriate for a Wikipedia article.
But again, I want to emphasize, there are a lot of problems like this throughout the entire article. Fixing this one issue isn't even close to enough to fix the entire article. Grayfell (talk) 06:15, 13 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
