Not even a single mention of Drone striking an American cifizen
Can't say I'm surprised. Wikipedia has devolved into a partisan hack. ~2025-39650-38 (talk) 06:25, 21 December 2025 (UTC)

- Killing of Abdulrahman al-Awlaki? You're obviously not talking about an incident mentioned at Barack_Obama#Foreign_policy, that would be partisan hackery. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 06:45, 21 December 2025 (UTC)
- Or the fact that his birth certificate was copied from someone else born on the same day. It's obvious if you see them side by side. ~2025-43517-93 (talk) 19:46, 28 December 2025 (UTC)

Was he ever licensed to practice law in anywhere?
Perhaps even the minimal mentionings of his apparently pathetic legal career should be removed entirely. ~2025-42193-93 (talk) 18:21, 1 January 2026 (UTC)

- I must have been on the moon years ago. Today’s the wry first day I heard of him being a lawyer. It doesn’t seem to be mentioned much on regular broadcast tv. ~2025-42193-93 (talk) 23:28, 1 January 2026 (UTC)

Edit request on 22 November 2025
In the lead, the sentence currently reads:
> Obama left office in 2017 with high approval ratings both within the United States and among foreign advisories.
In this sentence, "foreign advisories" seems out of place. I suggest changing the sentence to:
> Obama left office in 2017 with high approval ratings both within the United States and abroad.
This is more idiomatic English and matches the intended meaning (high approval both domestically and internationally). Another option is:
> Obama left office in 2017 with high approval ratings both within the United States and internationally. MakingEditsHavingFun (talk) 18:05, 22 November 2025 (UTC)
- ‘Abroad’ is much clearer. Do you need consensus to add the template? Gloobles (talk) 12:47, 22 December 2025 (UTC)
- "The number of American soldiers in Afghanistan reached it's peak during Obama's first term and decreased during his second term"
- Idk where to request this and I can't edit it but can someone remove the ' in it's? Ihatethesidebar (talk) 19:52, 12 January 2026 (UTC)

I am requesting that the following edit that was made earlier today be reverted: Revision 1332574542.
This edit is blatant POV pushing, misrepresentating the the references and excessive detail for the lede. It was already reverted once by @IrisChronomia: Revision 1332511802.
The details added to the lede are not even in the body of the article and there are no other sources in the lede except the four that were added in this edit. Per WP:LEDE the lede should be a summary of the body which this added content isn't and citations are also not necessary in the lede if we are summarizing the body.
Although the references are critical of the intervention, they do not support the claim that foreign intervention led to the economic collapse and humanitarian crisis in Libya. Obama certainly doesn't agree with this despite what is stated in the the edit summary stated. The BBC source quotes him stating that the biggest mistake of his presidency was "Probably failing to plan for the day after, what I think was the right thing to do, in intervening in Libya." The ongoing Libyan civil war had already started two months before the intervention. That is what led to the economic collapse, humanitarian crisis and assassination of Gaddafi. That context is key. The references that were added are far more nuanced. The only reference added that is very critical of Obama is the last reference from the Cato institute but it doesn't even support the language added to the lede. In fact none of the four references that were added even mention economic collapse or humanitarian crisis. ~2026-25325-5 (talk) 20:02, 12 January 2026 (UTC)

Did this peerson ever achieve notability in his career as an attorney.?
The mention of him becoming a civil rights attorney is not even cited. Was he ever engaged in a notable controversy? ~2025-42193-93 (talk) 14:42, 1 January 2026 (UTC)
- Yes he was a civil rights attorney. O3000, Ret. (talk) 16:17, 1 January 2026 (UTC)
- Yeah, but "civil rights attorney" seems to be WP:LEAD-only, at least with those words.. We can remove it from the lead, or expand on it in the article body. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 16:33, 1 January 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks for confirming that, according to that article, we elected a former attorney who seems to have never been in a courtroom. I had my suspicions that his legal career lacks sufficient notability for inclusion. ~2025-42193-93 (talk) 17:45, 1 January 2026 (UTC)
- 80-90% of US attorneys rarely or never step into a courtroom. TV shows like Law and Order and Perry Mason do not represent the typical attorney. O3000, Ret. (talk) 18:13, 1 January 2026 (UTC)
- Does this article convey Obama as a typical attorney? Where was he licensed to practice? ~2025-42193-93 (talk) 18:25, 1 January 2026 (UTC)
- Yes. This is a matter of public record. A request to change the fact that Obama is biracial not black Coly03 (talk) 22:28, 24 January 2026 (UTC)
- See the FAQ at the top of this page. Johnuniq (talk) 01:41, 25 January 2026 (UTC)
- Biracial and black are not mutually exclusive. According to WP, "African Americans have 73.2–82.1% Sub-Saharan African, 16.7–24% European, and 0.8–1.2% Native American genetic ancestry, with large variation between individuals." Make of that what you will. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 17:25, 1 February 2026 (UTC)
- Some biracial people with enough African ancestry could be considered black. Most African Americans are only 70-80% Black because of the transatlantic slave trade. Obama is 50% Black. He's light skinned brown but he looks kind of black to the average person. Now if he was 5% black or 25-40% black and he looked mainly white then I would agree on removing "African American" but I don't. Maybe you could put "First African American and multiracial president" that might be a good solution? Kpop777 (talk) 22:48, 1 February 2026 (UTC)
- Wikipedia follows the consensus of reliable sources. To do otherwise would be original research and/or undue weight. Talk:Barack Obama/FAQ#2 explains this in more detail. A. Randomdude0000 (talk) 23:15, 1 February 2026 (UTC)

At the end of the second paragraph of the Post-presidency section, add the word leaders to the quote "women are indisputably better leaders than men". It is the orginal quote from the given sources, and the word leaders seems to be missing for no reason since it is in the middle of the quote and adds context ~2026-85648-4 (talk) 02:13, 8 February 2026 (UTC)

(At the start of the 3rd paragraph in the lead section)
Change
"Obama was awarded the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize for efforts in international diplomacy, a decision which drew both criticism and praise."
to
"Obama was awarded the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize for efforts in international diplomacy, a decision which drew both praise and criticism."
Per the convention in English to list pros before cons. Also per WP:NPOV, although perhaps only marginally, as placing the word at the start of the phrase adds unusual emphasis on criticism. Saiga Antelope (talk) 18:06, 22 February 2026 (UTC)

In the last paragraph of the first section, change "advisories" into "adversaries." Chrisw4465 (talk) 13:13, 5 March 2026 (UTC)
Partly done: Its clear that this is a typo, however, I can't make out what the claim is supposed to be (or, it seems like an odd claim to be making in the lede), and its not cited. The diff where it was introduced is here if any other editors are interested . Removed the uncited claim entirely. ScrubbedFalcon (talk) 20:17, 6 March 2026 (UTC)

Change "Obama left office in 2017.[2] and remains politically active, campaigning for candidates in American elections, including in Biden's successful presidential bid in the 2020 presidential election" to "Obama left office in 2017.[2] He remains politically active, campaigning for candidates in American elections, including in Biden's successful presidential bid in the 2020 presidential election."
