broken reference
editHi Crispybeatle! You said you were the author of the original ES page, so I wanted to ask if you have a reference other than x.com. It's not a particularly reliable source, and for me this particular URL doesn't load at all. It would be nice to replace it with a better source, and one that works. -- mikeblas (talk) 23:17, 13 April 2025 (UTC)
- Hi! I actually have a newspaper that says the date of death of Sidney, which is the exact same date that is on the Twitter post, but I don't know how to link PDF files
- Here is the newspaper from a file hosting site:
- https://files.catbox.moe/eavmxf.pdf Crispybeatle (talk) 11:33, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
- That doesn't load for me, either. You don't need to link to a PDF -- and shouldn't, if it's copyright isnt clear. Citing the newspaper itself would be quite adequate. -- mikeblas (talk) 17:11, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
- Hmm I don't really know what's the problem and why it isn't working
- But I don't remember where I got the newspaper from Crispybeatle (talk) 00:32, 15 April 2025 (UTC)
- I finally got the PDF to load, and have corrected the reference in the article. -- mikeblas (talk) 01:13, 15 April 2025 (UTC)
- I got the date wrong, it's the 14th. Also, it is in fact The Sevenoaks Chronicle
- Proof:

I'll get to this shortly--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 20:46, 4 August 2025 (UTC)
- File:Arthur Herbert Thompson playing for River Plate 1914.png needs the appropriate US-PD tag
- Explain what a Superclásico match is on its first appearance
- A woman changing her last name to her husband's upon her marriage was the custom at that time in the English-speaking world.
- The career statistics says that he scored 9 goals with Estudiantes, but the main body says 8.
- After Thompson's death, she remained a widow until 1920 when she married Bertram L. Playfoot.[20] Like Thompson, all of his brothers went to the war, Cecil was the only one who survived it, but he died in 1925 at the age 32, on the same date as Thompson and Sidney. All of this is trivia and should be removed.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 19:13, 6 August 2025 (UTC)
- "Explain what a Superclásico match is on its first appearance" could you elaborate? 21:13, 8 August 2025 (UTC)
- You mention the 1913 Superclássico about halfway through the article and then tell the reader what a Superclássico is near the end. Combine the explanation with the example of the 1913 match.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 01:02, 9 August 2025 (UTC)
- Sorry, could you point out the parts? 15:56, 15 August 2025 (UTC)
Look in the River Plate paragraph.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 18:11, 16 August 2025 (UTC)
- Do I have to elaborate on what a Superclasico is? I don't quite get what are you saying 22:04, 16 August 2025 (UTC)
- You didn't link the specific game in the lede, but you linked the general article there. Then you redundantly linked both terms in the River Plate section. Link the specific game in the lede as well as the general article on them in the lede.
- Is there a typo in the total row for goals with Estudiantes de La Plata?
- Spot-checked cites 9, 10, 13
- In cite 14, I do not see Thompson listed on page 786--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 00:17, 28 August 2025 (UTC)
- Ah thanks for clearing up
- In citation 14 it's just stating the arrival of the battalion, I added it to give the reader a time frame of Thompson's arrival in France, I also fixed the total row in Estudiantes. 00:31, 28 August 2025 (UTC)
- The history shows your last edit on the 21st--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 10:15, 28 August 2025 (UTC)
- Huh, that's weird, maybe I forgot to save my edit 10:52, 28 August 2025 (UTC)
- That's happened to me, more ---Oh, look! A ground hog!--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 11:04, 28 August 2025 (UTC)

- @Crispybeatle: Unless I'm missing something, it looks like you are nominating two completely separate articles, with the intent of having both hooks run. Dual nominations like this are reserved for when you're nominating a hook that includes multiple bold-faced articles. Please create a separate nomination for Canción Animal. Otherwise, a reviewer looking at this may approve only one of your hooks. (Also, the article you're nominating should be in boldface for both hooks.) Epicgenius (talk) 13:36, 2 September 2025 (UTC)
Rejecting Canción Animal as ineligible per WP:DYKNEW (it's currently a GA nominee only); full review needed for Arthur Herbert Thompson.--Launchballer 11:12, 5 September 2025 (UTC)
Reviewing Thompson only. The article was promoted to GA status within seven days of the nomination. I did not find any close paraphrasing, and the article is adequately sourced. No QPQ is needed for a nominator with less than give nominations. The hook is awkwardly written: I would instead suggest wording along the lines of "that footballer Arthur Herbert Thompson was killed on the first anniversary of his brother's death?" (I'm not sure if the mention of the battle is necessary or not). The main issue I have right now is the sourcing: neither of the sources used to cite the "death anniversary" angle actually confirm that September 25 was his brother's date of death. One source does not mention Sidney's date of death at all as far as I can tell, the other says he disappeared on that day but does not outright say he died then. - @Crispybeatle: Please respond to the above review as the nomination may be closed if the issues with the hook and sourcing are not addressed. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 02:52, 6 October 2025 (UTC)
