'Mad Anthony' and Batman

edit

There are several publications listing Anthony Wayne as a direct ancestor of Bruce Wayne. In some cases as an uncle or less direct, yet still an ancestor. It's also an FAQ on social media. Perhaps someone can create a Depictions or modern culture category? Loftwtr (talk) 16:43, 21 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

It's under the "List of memorials to Anthony Wayne" article. I found it by mistake, would it make sense to add a small Cultural depictions (or popular) subtab or standalone article? Lincontrain (talk) 15:59, 7 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

3rd Infantry

edit

In the Death and Legacy section, there's an entire paragraph devoted to the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard), and Wayne is only casually mentioned once. Does this info really belong in this article? Canute (talk) 14:53, 6 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

I agree with this, it seems like an outlier when compared to other bios on wiki. Some of the content on the entire article also seems redundant. Lincontrain (talk) 15:52, 7 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Removed irrelevant details and moved one line to legion topic. It looks like this editor whomever that is, is referring to the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) article. Lincontrain (talk) 17:22, 10 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

To add to article

To add to this article: mention of Wayne's Congressional Gold Medal. 173.88.246.138 (talk) 02:00, 13 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

I added this to the summary section after Stony Point, the battle he earned the metal for. Lincontrain (talk) 18:10, 7 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Discussion on recent changes and source balance

edit

There have been recent edits and reversions in this article, particularly in sections discussing Wayne’s legacy and interpretation of events.

To avoid back and forth editing, I’d suggest we pause direct changes to the more contested sections and work toward consensus here first.

It may be helpful to clarify:

• Which sources represent the strongest modern secondary scholarship • Whether the current wording reflects appropriate due weight • Whether certain claims should be attributed to specific historians rather than stated in Wikipedia’s voice

I’m happy to propose specific wording options based on sources so we can work toward a balanced version before further edits are made. It may also be worth considering whether some statements should be attributed (e.g., “some historians argue…”) where interpretations differ across sources.
