Last album recorded
editThe lead says that Abbey Road "is the last album the group recorded, although Let It Be (1970) was the last album completed before the band's break-up in April 1970."
There is a lack of clarity about this statement as the Beatles recorded "Let It Be" and "I Me Mine" for Let It Be after Abbey Road had been released, and after Lennon had permanently left the band. I think the intention is to say that Abbey Road was the last album the band recorded in its entirety, and that Let It Be was completed before it was officially announced that the band had broken up. It's a tricky one because Let It Be was essentially recorded by the band before Abbey Road, and the one new track, "I Me Mine", was done after Lennon had left and the Beatles were over. The usual story is that Let It Be was delayed/shelved because of issues with the project, then after Spector had remixed it, it was released after Abbey Road. For simplicity, as this is about Abbey Road, not the complications around Get Back/Let It Be, might it be easier if we followed the conventional route and say something like: Abbey Road "is the last album the group recorded (Let It Be, though recorded earlier, had a delayed release due to production issues)."
