This club is now called Maris Tîrges Mureş —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.125.220.94 (talk) 16:24, 6 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

The Club is called Fotbal Club Tîrges Mureş not Târges Mureş. The above comment is not true. Ryantheking (talk) 17:28, 11 August 2011 (UTC)RyanthekingRyantheking (talk) 17:28, 11 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Name change of the page

edit

The club's name is actually Asociația Sportivă Ardealul TÎRGU Mureș not TÂRGU Mureș, so please change it IanIsACountryball (talk) 15:04, 3 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

You are correct that the emblem shows Tirgu Mureș. However, the official and current spelling of the city’s name in Romanian is Târgu Mureș, with "â". Even if the logo uses the older form, Wikipedia should reflect the correct modern spelling of the city. Therefore, the name should stay as Târgu Mureș. Florin (talk) 17:32, 3 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
As a person born in Târgu Mureș, the brand name is literally Tîrgu Mureș, it's not about the city spelling it's about the name of the brand, all sources say it's AS Ardealul Tîrgu Mureș including their site and in 2013 the name of the city was Târgu Mureș as the communist era ended in 1989, it's about the choice of the city hall to name the club Tîrgu Mureș rather than Târgu Mureș, that's why I'm addressing this IanIsACountryball (talk) 18:20, 3 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
I understand your point of view, but I think you are forcing a misleading distinction between the current ASA and the club renamed ASA in 2013, based only on the spelling Tîrgu vs. Târgu. The official name of the city is Târgu Mureș, and that is the spelling that should be used on Wikipedia. Logos or historical documents may show Tîrgu, but that alone does not justify changing the correct name of the city. Florin (talk) 18:40, 3 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
