Requested move: Rename to "The 7 Aban Front"
editI request that this page be renamed from "7 Ābān Front" to "The 7 Aban Front".
- “The 7 Aban Front” is the official name of the organization, as used by the group itself and in multiple reliable secondary sources.
- The definite article “The” is part of the proper name and appears consistently in English-language publications.
- The move improves accuracy and follows English naming conventions for organizations.
Therefore, I request that an administrator or an editor with page-moving rights perform this move.

7 Ābān Front → The 7 Aban Front – The official English name includes the definite article “The”, supported by reliable sources. Mortezaa5 (talk) 16:18, 2 December 2025 (UTC)
- This is a contested technical request (permalink).
- First, according to WP:COMMONNAME, articles are named based on reliable sources independent of the subject; official sources are usually not given any preferential treatment when evaluating how to title an article.
- Second, WP:THE essentially says that article titles omit "the" unless a preponderance of sources say otherwise.
- With these two guidelines in mind, usage in sources are as follows:
- "Iran's hidden empire" - The Jerusalem Post (2024-11-10):
organizations like the 7 Aban Front (Solidarity for Iran's liberation) named after the Persian seventh day of the month Aban or Cyrus Day
- "IRGC was involved in Oct. 7 horror, 'Haaretz' repeats IRGC propaganda of Prince Pahlavi" - The Jerusalem Post via MSN News (2025):
the dissident movement 7 Aban Front in Iran
- "The Iranian Struggle for Freedom: A Call for Global Solidarity" joint statement by Freedom House (2023-02-01):
Solidarity for the Liberation of Iran (7 Aban Front)
- "Iran Crisis Update, December 22" Iran Update. American Enterprise Institute's Critical Threats Project and the Institute for the Study of War (2022):
a group called the Seventh of Aban Front
- "The Fractured Opposition to the Islamic Regime" - The Washington Institute:
The "Solidarity for the Freedom of Iran," or Haft Aban Front, in Brussels
- "Iran's hidden empire" - The Jerusalem Post (2024-11-10):
- DuckDuckGo returns no results when searching with the diacritic (
-wikipedia "Ābān front"). The page title should probably be 7 Aban Front instead. Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 17:24, 2 December 2025 (UTC)
- Move to 7 Aban Front per Rotideypoc41352. DankJae 17:56, 2 December 2025 (UTC)
I agree with the above comments. After reviewing the sources, I withdraw my previous request for the title "The 7 Aban Front" and support moving the article to **7 Aban Front**, which is the most common form used in reliable English-language sources.
Thank you. Mortezaa5 (talk) 14:07, 3 December 2025 (UTC)
