Should Gaspi get a article on him from ths crash
editI assume he would be notable from the crash Grffffff (talk) 18:58, 14 June 2026 (UTC)
- There is a draft in progress at Draft:Gaspi (YouTuber). However, if he only becomes notable as a result of the crash, it would likely be in violation of WP:ONEEVENT. GalacticVelocity08 (talk) 19:20, 14 June 2026 (UTC)

Fake "video" of crash
editSocial media users are sharing a 2024 video claiming it is the 2026 crash. It is not. The original video can be seen here, so the “still” of the crash should not be added. https://www.cnn.com/videos/world/2024/04/23/malaysia-helicopter-crash-intl-ldn-digvid.cnn

KSI
edit"African YouTuber KSI said: "Can't believe I'm actually having to type this. You're 32 man. You should still be here. You still had so much life to live. So much music to make. So much content to make. You're a legend and will always be a legend. Still doesn't feel real. Genuinely feel sick. I love you bro.""
KSI is British and born in London of Nigerian descent; he's not African. ~2026-34845-48 (talk) 23:16, 14 June 2026 (UTC)
- Also add Bebe Rexha who recorded a song with him called Nevermind that was meant for her album but not included - perhaps due to leak.
- "I’m in shock. I was in the middle of my cd signing in nyc when I found the news of Oliver tree. I can’t believe it. We recorded a record together to be on dirty blonde. He was so smart . Passionate. Talented. Kind. I’m so sad. May he rest in peace." (https://x.com/beberexha/status/2066271258237378574) Lion2Ya (talk) 23:57, 14 June 2026 (UTC)

New section regarding the potential notability of Lucas Frota and whether he should remain as a red link (suggested sources included)
Lucas Frota
editFor anyone interested in creating an article on Lucas Frota, I have attached the following sources below. Please note I am unsure about both the reliability of the sources and the status of his (limited) notability (there is a realistic likelihood of him only being notable for one event) so do so only at your discretion.

Helicopter Occupants
editI think there's some conflicting sources about who was in which aircraft. The NY Post article someone has posted in the History tab has the 5 occupants in the Bell helicopter, but the Aviation Safety page that is referenced for the registration numbers has the Eurocopter as the one with 5 occupants.
Also, the first source of the list of occupants (g1 article) has the flight numbers listed at the top with PP-MAC being given as the registration carrying the 5 passengers, but when you scroll down it says they were riding a Eurocopter aircraft which is the one with the PR-DJJ registration. It also incorrectly identifies the Eurocopter as the one that burst in to flames. And none of the other three sources provided specify which helicopter the victims were in.
Not sure what the best course of action would be, or whether it's worth not specifying who was where until concrete information is released. KnuXles-13 (talk) 22:08, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
- An investigation is underway by CENIPA, which always publishes its conclusions; we will certainly have more information after it. ArionStar (talk) 02:56, 18 June 2026 (UTC)
About that gif
editThere's no gore or anything but, being footage of people's death, I think the gif at the top of this article is potentially upsetting to some people. It upset me a lot and I was startled to see it. I know and support wikipedia's no-censorship policy, but could it maybe just not be the top image? It appears and plays even if you just hover over the link to this article from another page and it's kind of a nasty surprise frankly. ~2026-35103-17 (talk) 10:42, 17 June 2026 (UTC)
- Yeah I agree. People are plummeting to their death in that gif. Unnecessary per WP:GRATUITOUS. I've removed it. Let's discuss here if others feel strongly about adding it back. Happy to discuss. Ckoerner (talk) 15:31, 17 June 2026 (UTC)
- 100% agree with your removal reason, and I agree with the temporary user who made this topic; it startled me as well. I propose two alternate approaches to a header image: a still frame of the security camera footage before the aircraft crashed with a note below it giving context, like this: "Security camera footage moments before one of the Helicopter's crashed in a parking lot."; or photos of the wrecked aircrafts (with no peoples, of course). For the latter option, I think it's best we wait for investigative imagery to release, if any does. HandwovenGarden (talk) 17:50, 17 June 2026 (UTC)
- Maybe in the "Accident" section? ArionStar (talk) 02:58, 18 June 2026 (UTC)
- Yeah, maybe. HandwovenGarden (talk) 23:10, 20 June 2026 (UTC)
- Maybe in the "Accident" section? ArionStar (talk) 02:58, 18 June 2026 (UTC)
- I think that the footage of people dying from the helicopter crash should be kept for being informative. VitorFriboquen :] (Talk) 03:41, 18 June 2026 (UTC)
- I see where your coming from. Though, in my opinion anyways, showing an aircraft free-falling just as you open an article is startling. As I've proposed in a message above yours, we could opt for a still frame from the footage and place the full security feed in the "Accident" section. Would love to talk on this more to find a solution. Thanks :P HandwovenGarden (talk) 04:53, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
- Yes, added in "Accident". A pity that the event was not posted on ITN. ArionStar (talk) 18:31, 22 June 2026 (UTC)

"Assasination of Oliver Tree" listed at Redirects for discussion
edit
The redirect Assasination of Oliver Tree has been listed at redirects for discussion to determine whether its use and function meets the redirect guidelines. Readers of this page are welcome to comment on this redirect at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2026 June 18 § Assasination of Oliver Tree until a consensus is reached. jolielover♥talk 14:13, 18 June 2026 (UTC)
- assassination is when a figure is killed by a person, such as John Wilkes Booth (who was famous before he shot Lincoln) shot Abraham Lincoln. Oliver Tree was killed by human error not by a specific person. So this redirection really shouldn’t be on this page. Thank you, Cats780 Cats780 (talk) 17:04, 19 June 2026 (UTC)
- @Cats780, that's why the redirect was listed at "redirects for discussion," where one of the possible outcomes is "delete". The user who posted the message didn't do anything wrong (or even create the redirect), they're just letting us know. If you want to say what you think about the redirect (should it be kept or deleted) you can go to Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2026 June 18 § Assasination of Oliver Tree. Hi, why they deleted the GIF from the article?
editWhy they deleted the gif? AVA Aviation (talk) 21:50, 18 June 2026 (UTC)

Can we translate the Avenida Américas article
editIt’s only available on Portuguese Wikipedia and is able to be translated, but can’t we just add it to English Wikipedia as well? Cats780 (talk) 17:01, 19 June 2026 (UTC)
- Yes you can. Wikipedia:Translation explains the process, policies, and details involved with the translation of articles in other Wikipedia languages into English. Celjski Grad (talk) 16:24, 20 June 2026 (UTC)
Why we can’t edit the page
editI was planning to talk with brazilian photographers if they can letting us add REAL photos of the crashed helicopters, so we can stop using example photos of other helicopters! Because we don’t want that someone think that the photos of the helicopters in the article are the real who crashed in Rio de Janeiro (I know that in image description says “similar helicopter involved”). Just I wanna know why we can’t edit the page. AVA Aviation (talk) 03:08, 20 June 2026 (UTC)
- The page was protected due to Persistent disruptive editing, as per the page's protection log (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Log&type=protect&page=2026+Rio+de+Janeiro+mid-air+collision)
- You can't edit it because you are not yet an autoconfimed user as per WP:AUTOCONFIRM.
