2025 Sydney Harbour Bridge protestMarch for HumanityWP:COMMONNAME, similar to March for Gaza. JamesOnDaGo (talk) 18:01, 3 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Oppose. We should consider WP:COMMONNAME, which dictates articles use the most recognisable name for a given subject, I don't think people would know this event by its official name. The Sydney Harbour Bridge is a more iconic landmark than any places used for marches in other articles. Take caution as an overly positive title may violate the policy on neutral point of view for titles. WP:OFFICIALNAME is an essay which should provide help in determining a suitable title for this article, it states that we do not need to use the official name of the event in all scenarios unless it is commonly recognised. Sources are not unanimous in stating the official name of the event, we should follow the sources' information and based the title off of the most commonly used name in those. Comment- There's fair amount of WP:RELY which calls the demonstration as the proposed title. Here's some of them that i found:
The Guardian, Times of India, Australian Broadcasting Corporation. In my opinion, we can add it at the lead section, wording it, "…also known as March for Humanity…". Though not yet sure about changing the whole title. Goku from bd (talk) 12:19, 4 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Oppose. I'm not 100% around the naming conventions for Wikipedia articles, but the article name should be based on notability, and not just the name that organisers have used to promote the event. Most media sources I've seen have used "Sydney Harbour Bridge protest", "Harbour Bridge protest", "Harbour Bridge march", or something to that effect. I'm happy to use the "official" name in the lead section, but I don't think it should be the main title. StellaAquila (talk) 03:24, 6 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Maram Susli participation

edit

I just found from Susli's twitter account that she participated in the protest. Unfortunately, I did not find any news outlets that reported her participation. Hence, can I include Susli as one of the prominent protestors in the article by citing her tweet? Faldi00 (talk) 22:35, 5 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

You may be able to. I've seen citations of Twitter (X) on many other articles so I don't know why you couldn't use it here. You just need to be careful whether to cite it regarding WP:TWITTER. Qwerty123M (talk) 23:17, 5 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

4 Corners a highly respected current affairs program on the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) reported during a 2 part special on the Bondi Massacre that radical jihadist preacher Wissam Haddad was photographed on the Sydney Harbour Bridge participating in the protest. It has also been reported that Wissam Haddad is targeting the pro-Palestinian movement for recruits to Islamic state terrorism. Valentines26 (talk) 22:35, 13 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
