I'm going to overhaul this
editNo offense but as is, this draft is poorly written. I'm going to fix it based on the actual research on the topic and how it how it relates to speculative fiction. CartoonDiablo (talk) 03:37, 6 April 2026 (UTC)
- @CartoonDiablo: You should be aware that this article was deleted in an AfD. Ed [talk] [OMT] 18:33, 6 April 2026 (UTC)
- I'm aware and was told by another admin to go through AfC for this article to be created. My understanding is the deletions were because the previous articles were poorly written due to WP:CRYSTAL (assuming a new civil war was likely/inevitable), WP:SYNTH (poor use of sources) and WP:FRINGE (treating a new civil war as occurring or inevitable, which is a fringe idea).
- But these were execution/poor writing problems. The topic clearly passes WP:N and there are plenty of reliable sources from academic research and mainstream news that treat the possibility of a new conflict as highly unlikely. There are even multiple national surveys on the topic, which were themselves reported on by reliable sources. If it needs more qualifiers to say how unlikely it is, that's fine but the topic isn't inherently problematic. CartoonDiablo (talk) 19:32, 6 April 2026 (UTC)
- I think you should re-read Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Second American Civil War (3rd nomination), as that's not an accurate summation of all the reasons for deletion. In this draft, the section devoted to random scholarly mentions of "Second American Civil War", heavy reliance on commentators/op-ed columnists, and the WP:COATRACKy section on speculative fiction exemplify the fundamental problems with the topic. It can/should be briefly covered within the existing Political polarization in the United States instead. I'd expect an immediate 4th AfD from someone if this draft is moved to mainspace, but YMMV.
